You can find all kinds of used APC units on ebay. Look for batteries while you are at it. Always a good idea to just replace them from the start.

I would recommend in this order. The UD3R is $184 at microcenter.

I got an Asus P6T plain board. Supports 24GB ram at over DDR3 1600. It was decently cheap as well, compared to many of the other boards.

I have a P6T Vanilla and my requirements were at least DDR1600 support and 24GB ram capacity. I got the P6T from microcenter for about $230 and don't regret it. I've never been one to use software raid and extreme overclock my processors. I'm sure just a light OC on this board would be fine.

I just got an MSI Eclipse board from Newegg that had a broken off spring clamp plus one of the capacitors was broken off the board. this was Open Box however. You would think they would quality check that kind of stuff.
