It works best on 64-bit operating systems. Here's what it says in the readme:
"Warning: Running the Sandbox Editor under a 32bit OS can lead to
instabilities with production size levels due to the low amount of
virtual memory available. Though the Sandbox Editor can be used in
this...
Try running the game as administrator, it fixed all my graphical issues. This is for the 64-bit patch, the 32-bit game worked fine (didn't need to run as admin). I have't tried HDR though.
just accept that some people find halo enjoyable and favor it over other shooters. the only other pc fps to come close would be tribes 1, for me. half life 1 and 2 for example were definitly fun, but I didn't find them as enjoyable.
even after playing some of the PC's best FPS's, I still prefer Halo. The gameplay/story/music/characters immersed me more than any other game. And the great multiplayer keeps me coming back for more (it's tough for anything to beat 4v4 Halo on LAN IMO).
anyone wondering about the 64-bit patch:
It is ok to install the patch no matter what version of farcry you have right now. The 64-bit game runs separately from the 32-bit game, so if you have v1.4 now and install the 64-bit patch which is v1.33 you can still play the 32-bit version if you...
I think people get really nostalgic with Goldeneye. it doesn't really hold up well these days, but it was groundbreaking for its time because it was the first decent console FPS. It's fun to play sure, but I'd choose to play Halo over Goldeneye any day. Halo has much better controls, much better...
if you didn't see anything good in it why did you keep playing it and why are you getting halo3? You obviously don't care about the story at all based on your lack of knowledge on it. The story is alot deeper than that and there is alot of backstory to the first game. I love halo's plot (at...
ah crap, sorry I forgot it was an insider board. Here's the post:
(The link in this quote is the same as the second link the first quote, incase anyone is wondering).
The game requires a shader model 3.0 card. Someone posted a solution on IGN forums:
http://boards.ign.com/pc_general_board/b5027/148865024/p1/?37
but it still has huge graphical problems.
I had the exact same problem with the accelerox2 (screen going black), and I did have the voltage regulator cooler!
It's the graphic card overheating I'm sure of it. Because sometimes the fan dies on my stock cooler now (fucking cable is loose!), and it's exactly what you described, the screen...
try running the game as administrator. it fixed graphical issues with me, but that was with the 64-bit patch, 32-bit ran fine without needing admin privileges.
Ya, you'd end up getting it somehow anyway (windows update likely, or included in a game). The forums I got it from, the OP said that this package was required for a beta he was testing, because it fixes alot of problems. My guess is it's bug fixes to the direct X api calls, so it likely...
ya, true enough. I checked windows update though and didn't see it there. Someone linked me to it from another forum. Maybe it will be released on patch tuesday?
New update for directx, includes dx9 and dx10 updates for aug2007.

ya same thing happened with me. good thing i wasn't that far so starting over wasn't a big deal. I really should start playing it again, I stopped playing a few weeks ago when I got half-life2.
just pop the cd in the drive and boot from it. It will give you a few options, but the first one is to run the live cd and install. This will boot up the full OS, and lets you play around with it before installing. However it's very slow in comparison to the real thing, and any changes you make...
The saved files go in your Shared\My Documents folder, or on Vista Users\Public\Documents.
They are going to release something to convert the save games files, or they have already released it, but I can't find it.
best bet would likely be to try www.ubuntuforums.org if you haven't already. I'm not sure though as I don't use RAID, but could you install on one harddrive then shift it over to RAID 1?
Vista stunts productivity, but the only examples he gives are IE7 (get Firefox), a usb drive (no problems with mine), and starting up/shutting down/hibernating (works just as good as xp for me, startup is actually better because the desktop is usable right away, I can open firefox within seconds...
he's saying his driver's crashed while playing the game, but instead of BSOD'ing like it would in XP, Vista recovered the drivers and he was able to keep playing.
Yes the Arrow > is still next to the Lock Button in Classic interface, I just checked. If you want to change the "Shutdown" button to actually Shutdown, someone posted it above.
I couldn't log in, but it was likely since I was using the 64-bit version, which only goes up to 1.3, and the latest patch is 1.4
I'll try the 32-bit version later and see if I can login. I never played the game online, but it looks like fun. Far-Cry single player rocks, one of my most...
How are the 64 bit drivers for the video card?
Work fine for me, I'm using an x1950pro.
Should I get more ram before 64 bit?
Doesn't matter, but 64-bit will allow you to use more.
Will 64 bit cripple any steam games, World of Warcraft, and some recent releases (stalker, etc)
I've played WoW...
Ya, I have this desk as well, I love it. Lots of space for everything. I also have the same wallpaper on my desktop, and an xbox on the same shelf as you. Creepy :p
