Multiple fans connected to one 3 pin header?

That adapter in your case would just power the fans at 12 volts, Unless you purchase 4 pin PWM fans. Also notice on the close up pics, only one fan has one header with a RPM reading.

Multiple fans connected to one 3 pin header?

First off the only difference between a 4 pin header and a 3 pin is that last pin is used for Pulse Width Modulation for precise fan speed control. In your case that pin would be left open and the other 3 pins are the same (power, ground and RPM). I have never tried using a Y adapter to power...

Fat guy in a little coat; water cooled Node 304

Actually the list price for that PSU is $49.99. At least they are high temp (105C), keep em cool and they should be fine. I work in the coin op industry, we have Motherboards / PSU's from the early 90's still running 24/7. Bad caps may not be as big of an issue as it once was, but if your's...

Really? Corsair uses CapXon caps in their PSU's? I'd throw some better caps in there while you got it open, especially after all that modding

Adding hard drives to a Gateway E-9520T

That's the only way I've ever tried it, plugging the drive in, turning the machine on, then seeing if it was detected by the BIOS

    So what's changed since...

I guess SETI has a soft spot in my heart being the first DC project I ran, I remember having it running on like 4 computers in my bedroom on all the screens, I knew I was hooked. I also remember FoldServer being my first entry into the PXE world, and having to get an [H] member (I'm so bad with...

    So what's changed since...

Thanks for the warm welcome back, I didn't realize how much I missed DC projects. What are some recommendations for BIONC projects that can be ran on older equip (at least the ones I listed so far) and I'd like to stick to cancer and or medical research if possible. After I get that going I...

So what's changed since... ah hell I never was a "folding expert", I've been in and out of it for about 10 years. I've always made due with whatever hardware I could get my hands on (e.g. my cousins get a new SNES, We bought their old NES). I have a humble home network that still includes a...

Adding hard drives to a Gateway E-9520T

I have a Gateway E-9520T Server, I have been trying to install any drive in the front cages to no avail. So far I have been running from the onboard SATA connector (Mobo has them labeled as SATA0 and SATA5), although when testing I disconnect this OS Drive. I have tried multiple drives (making...

Actually I am shorting the green wire (PWR ON) to ground with the relay contacts, and the coil is just wired to the 12v on the first PSU. I've never heard of using the grey wire (PWR GOOD) as a trigger. AFAIK the PWR Good signal is initially LOW ( 0v ) until the power supply has stabilized all...

    Controlling Dell Fans >:-}

AFAIK transformers only work with an alternating current, there may be a way to boost it with a dc to dc converter circuit but you would loose a lot of energy in the process and drain your battery way faster

Ok so far I have 3 VM's that shutdown correctly with my script sudo vmrun stop /var/lib/vmware/Shared\ VMs/Server\ 2003/Server\ 2003.vmx ssh freebsd 'poweroff' ssh -l root 192.168.5.150 'poweroff' Using the same command (and many variations) I can't seem to get my server 2008 VM to shut down...

Powering off FreeBSD VM with VM workstation 10

Not a bad idea, It took me a few minutes to get it working on freeBSD and CentOS since they were a little different. I used ssh-keygen and ssh-copy-id commands to setup no password and the command "ssh Hostname 'poweroff'. I seem to have Server 2003 working besides the fact I have to sudo my...

Problem with Pegged CPU in Ubuntu 12.04

I do not seem to have a /var/log/messeges file, and I didn't see anything in the dmesg output although it's kind of a lot to go through. I have since commented out all lines in the /etc/init/tty2.conf - tty6.conf files, and that works for now. All this has been done by SSH, I haven't had a...

Thank you for the reply, I really hoped that was what I was looking for. I ran the commands and then rebooted the server with my fingers crossed, but it was no go. I have a feeling it is some kind of log file that is getting too large, as described in the link you provided, I just can't seem...

Questions about routing with multiple routers

I have since gone through and reconfigured all devices on the network, DD-WRT confused me a little bit but I finally figured it out. I had DHCP forwarding on (Which didn't have any clients anways) and needed to select DHCP server before it gave me an option to disable it. I also disabled...

Problem with Pegged CPU in Ubuntu 12.04

I have a server out in my workshop running ubuntu 12.04 that keeps getting these getty processes that peg out the CPU's to 100%. After I kill them in htop the cpu usage drops to about 2-3% under minimal load. I have googled the problem quite a lot but haven't been able to find a fix that...

Questions about routing with multiple routers

In my Home network I have several routers, although my main router/firewall is an ipcop machine. I noticed after upgrading some of my wireless routers ( I have 3...) to DD-WRT I have the option to disable routing. I'm wondering if this will mean that IPCOP will do all the routing throughout the...

So... I was overclocking my old Venice Athlon 64 and hit a roadblock around 220mhz FSB, I tried several things including bumping up the cpu volt just a tad. This caused the machine to go to a black screen and refuse to boot. I finally narrowed the "bottleneck" to being the cheap power supply...

Making / Restoring Hard Drive Disk Images
