How Google Is Becoming A Lot Less Interesting

They make their billions on Ad revenue. They make "free" things so they can know more about you and deliver every increasingly targeted ads to you. This then increases their ad revenue and their stash of cash to make cool things. They revolutionized their own data center to make it handle...

12-Year-Old Faces Criminal Charges For Using Emoji

I live in the Fairfax, VA area. The police force is over budgeted and overpaid. In one of the most affluent places on earth, they have nearly nothing to do. So they bust minors for emojis.

IRS Cut Its Cyber Security Staff by 11% Over Four Years

This is talking about those that work directly for the U.S. government. They said they were moved to contractors. That is a good thing. There is more accountability, and generally more capability. I concur with the phishing explanation, sometimes you just can't help users enough.

    Copper Sponge Silent PC Prototype

Thermal conductivity of copper is great, but the ability to dissipate the heat is much worse than aluminum. They should coat it in aluminum. The interior copper can transfer the heat from the core out the copper threads of the "sponge" to the aluminum coating, then the aluminum coating can...

Google Designing Its Own Server Chips?

Google does not have to comply with ARM to x86 or RISC. They will probably make ASIC processors so they are fast at doing exactly what they want, and nothing else. They need to run google OS/FS. Google makes their own network gear with their own protocols, this is just the next step in the...

    The Windows Era Is Over

It is funny that people in high places fail to grasp the state of the market. Just because people stopped purchasing new gear every three years, and upgrade windows with it, does not mean the PC is failing. It means the hardware has come to a point where it is fast enough, and Microsoft has...

Just create a console with remote connections. There are enough stats. I only run 8 computers, 5 have capable GPUs, but the client console does it for me. Breaking out usernames is going to give you a headache on looking up online stats per machine.

iTunes Users Upset Over Apple's Security Questions

Security questions are a FARCE of a security measure. Like passwords, they are so easily compromised, they only add trouble for the user, and add little to not effort for the person attemping to compromise the account. Unfortunately more and more people are moving this way include the U.S...

How to Remove Your Google Search History

He is right, If you use Google, you pay them with your Personal information and habits. They offer free services to fund their advertisement business, which in turn funds their "free" services. Bing actually works pretty well, and MS pays for it with the profits from office and windows, and...

Stupid Bulletproof Vest Video of the Day

That is a serious milimeter that you are missing as well. If you look at the ballistics of a 9mm and a 10mm, they are completely different classes of bullets. When I saw the title, I thought big whoop, only a 380 or 22 is really smaller than a 9mm. Then the guy said 10mm and I double and...

Hey AMD, you have my $1100, Can i have some official drivers?

AMD has always been behind in driver development. That is why I go Nvidia. Nvidia has its shortcomings, but the drivers always rock. As a card moves into the twilight, the AMD drivers may outpace the nvidia ones, but who cares at that point. Since the first major card, nvidia had an opengl...

    Intel Core i7-3960X - Sandy Bridge E Processor Review @ [H]

When they make Xeons out of these, they will be the chip of choice for VMWare farms. That memory bandwidth and processing power is what they need. That pipe is consumed quickly when you load up working servers.

I have been coming to this site since it was just a wee little web page. I have to admire how it has tried to be true all this time. This review reminded me of that. I love the tone Kyle and Brent use in their reviews. They provide a read that makes it seem as if you are sitting down have a...

Eizo introduces a 36.4” 4K2K Monitor in Japan

Sony CEO: A Week Wasn't Fast Enough?

please recommend me the BEST card for a 27" monitor

Actually the 1080p on a 27" monitor close up would be painful to view. The dot pitch would kill me. I got tired of 1920x1200 on a 24" so I got a 2560x1440 on a 27". That tight dot pitch makes it seem like I am using a CRT again. As for a video card. What the other people said is very...

Unfortunately this is where system planning really is important. What is the point of a triple GPU rig with 1024x768 monitor? When you want to purchase a new component in general, make sure it fits with the entire system. You have a couple of choices so that you don't have to ditch that...
