I don't have an x830c, but I've tried the x810c and x850c in the last couple weeks. The x850c had problems with lock ups and even weird things like reverting to previous settings and even switching inputs on me, which is pretty nasty when you're in the middle of a game. This was fixed by doing a...
Has anyone done any actual testing? I have. After about a year with a 256GB Samsung 840 Pro in Windows 7 I built up 42% fragmentation and Windows took ~9 seconds to boot (tested multiple times). After a defrag, I then shut down and cold booted the machine and Windows then repeatedly loaded in...
I personally have no problem with PWM as far as eye strain or headaches, but find the effect it has on motion clarity to be dreadful. It's the primary reason why I returned the Samsung JU7100.
I'll probably just continue to be miserable using my current display as there are no VA panels that I'm aware of in the size range I'm interested in (31-40 16:9) that don't have rather serious flaws like PWM. That said, my current monitor is on death's door and I may be forced to buy something...
Not that it matters, but I thought I should mention that I wound up returning the 2nd BenQ for a refund. I simply couldn't accept that bruise-like blemish given the price I paid for the monitor. One of the reasons I didn't just exchange it for another is that even though the IPS glow is better...
And it's the sexual desires of heterosexual men that are responsible for that. So be a part of the solution and man the glory hole at your local gay bar to hone your skills so you can later convert as many men as possible to homosexuality. After all, the more men you can convert to dick, the...
The BenQ has higher resolution, lower input lag, better motion clarity, no PWM, better viewing angles, better color accuracy, a better stand and costs less.
The Samsung's pros are basically just that it's bigger and if you sit far enough away to avoid the VA glow/crush (I don't) then it has...
Well, I got my 2nd display yesterday and I am happy to say that this unit doesn't have whatever aberration the first did that caused the screen to have that strange color temperature gradient across the screen. The manufacture date is March 2015.
Here are the color temp readings of the new...
No, it's a gradual shift in uniformity as you approach the edges, but is much worse on the left side. To illustrate, I divided the screen into a 3x3 grid and took 9 readings with a colorimeter and recorded the results below.
The charts on the left are at the brightness level I personally...
I recently purchased this monitor and it has very obvious color uniformity problems with the left side of the screen being a good 500k lower in color temp than the right. Is there anyone here who has one of these that doesn't have this problem? If so, what is the manufacture date? Mine is...
Nonsense. Unless you are physiologically way outside the norm or your workstation is ergonomically unfit, this is not true. The following table lists the industry's ergonomic recommendations for how high one's eyes should be above the top surface of their desk when sitting, relative to a...
I purchased one of these and it seems to be defective. One of the fans always spins at about 2300RPM regardless of temperature. It's very loud. I'm not all that familiar with using Nvidia products as I've been on AMD/ATI for the last 8-9 years but I've installed MSI Afterburner and tried to...
I tend to toss/sell all of my old hardware that I'm not actively using but the one card I kind of wish I would have kept was my Quantum 3D Obsidian X-24. It was the first consumer single-slot SLI card for the Voodoo 2 generation. I've been using SLI or Crossfire for every generation that it was...
So what you are saying is that if you were in a jerk-off booth and the transvestite hooker on the other side of the glass was far enough away to trick you into thinking he was a chick, that it's the same thing as if you were jerking off to an actual woman up close?
That's what I got out of...
The Seiki has 36% less resolution (137.68ppi vs 88.12ppi) than the Sharp, making it quite inferior to the Sharp for desktop usage.
Personally, I want at least 150ppi so I'll be waiting for a smaller version. Something in the 27-29" range will be perfect.
Is there something in specific that you need that particular unit for as I am using this:
http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=4999
for the same purpose and it works great at about half the price.
My setup is as follows: Computer in rack > 45' Dual link DVI cable > Gefen...
Your response is a straw man. I said NOTHING about price.
Feel free to keep arguing with yourself if it's giving you some sort of catharsis or builds your self esteem in some way though. I wouldn't want to stand in the way of your therapy.
A 50" 1080p LED TV has a resolution of 1941 PPI²
A 30" 1600p Monitor has a resolution of 10126 PPI²
The 30" hence has 5.2 times the resolution of the LED TV.
Why are you surprised? Every RPG Bethesda has ever released has been beta at best when it hit retail. Some games, like Daggerfall, were arguably still in alpha. They have never been known for the quality of their code.
They even managed to somehow mess up Rage and they didn't even touch the...
I use Cinemaquest Ideal-Lume bias lights. Their bulbs are designed to output 6500K to match your calibrated TVs or monitors and to preserve proper color perception. You can buy them for as little as $60 and they come with an extra bulb.

I definitely know you understand. Your post on resolution versus viewing distance was spot on.
I was just trying to be nice by being ambiguous and not pointing fingers in my original response...
The only one making an assumption is you. I never made any such claim. You're guilty of red herring fallacy.
The size of a screen is relative to viewing distance and the diagonal measurement of the screen is irrelevant without taking that into account. A 30" monitor at 2 feet is more...
Some of you seem to have some misconceptions in regard to how size is properly measured on a display device. It isn't measured in inches but in field of view from your viewing distance. You can figure this out with the Pythagorean Theorem and some trigonometry.
A 30" monitor viewed from 2...
I've been using monitors with higher resolutions than that since 1998. I fail to see why resolutions that weren't cutting edge 12 years ago are all that "matter".
The problem with the current situation with ISPs is monopoly control of infrastructure. If you remember the 90s, when dial-up was king, everyone had the choice of dozens of different ISPs to choose from. In my area, I literally had over 50 companies to choose from.
The reason such a...
I have the HP LP3065 and a Samsung 204B right next to each other on my desktop right now, and I can say unequivocably that the HP is far superior in response time. The ghosting is so bad on the TN panel Samsung, that auto-scrolling text at any decent speed is almost unreadable. The HP is getting...
I haven't noticed any ghosting in anything I've played.
The only FPS-like game I've played on it though is Call of Cthulhu. I mainly chose it because the game is so dark and LCDs traditionally suck at handling such games. It couldn't quite handle it at proper brightness, but if I notched up...
The bad news. The HP LP3065 doesn't display anything over 1280x800 with a single link cable. The screen is filled with lots of horizontal lines and other distortions at higher resolutions, although behind the mess I can still see my desktop.
No mention of HDCP anyhere in the manual either.
I wouldn't have purchased the monitor if I didn't plan on getting 8800GTX SLI by year's end. Intel's quad core will be powering my system soon as well. I just want to spread out the expense a little bit rather than buying all at once.
The manual says that the monitor only natively supports 2560x1600, but I'll try a single link cable when I get home today anyway. I should have more time and a working camera tonight.
OTOH, I own an HD-DVD player, so maybe I'll see if I can get an HDMI to DVI adapter tonight and hook it up...
My LP3065 is replacing a CRT and a Samsung 204b, and this monitor is WAY better than the Samsung and even has better colors than the CRT. I won't miss either of them.
I played "The Fifth Element" Superbit DVD on it and it looked great also.
Gaming is what I bought this monitor for though...
Yes, I bought the HP LP3065.
I can use any resolution I want with the monitor. I've had it set to 320x200 and almost every resolution from there up to 2560x1600 in the last hour or so. Resolutions that aren't equally divisible from native resolution obviously don't look as good though...
I'm reading this forum on my new 30". :)
All I have to say is I can't believe how friggin huge it is. All I've done so far is turn it on and check for dead/stuck pixels.
Stuck pixels: 0
Dead pixels: There are either two dead pixels about one inch from the lower right corner of the...
