When buy a piece of RAM that is labeled at ddr2-1000 it means that the RAM was tested and configured to run at that speed. When you OC RAM like DDR2-800 to DDR2-1000 you run the risk of damaging the RAM. So the higher clocked RAM will not malfunction at the speed that is was set to.
