i dont think you can block data anymore (or at least get out of paying for it), plus it really blocks the real features of the phone. i would look at some of the "multi-media" type phones rather then a smart phone

my HD receiver gets basic channels, mostly just news, but in HD which is nice. rarely ever watch the news in that fashion anyways, more likely to browse cnn's website then watch a local news station
I think he's saying his laptop only sees 3GB of ram? in this case, the VM can only access what the main OS can, so if that's true then you can only use a maximum of 3gb total across both machines.
If you're running a 64bit OS and can see all 4gb, then yes you can set VMWare to allocate more...
