You must be able to boot into windows. Then put in your win7 DVD and install using the 'Upgrade' option. There were a few programs that I had to reinstall afterward, but it was relatively painless.
You can find out the VID of your chip by using CoreTemp (the latest one works in Vista x64 - yah!!). Otherwise glad to see you got the temps down to a safe level. Now theres no need to burn-in your chip, since you've already accomplished that! he-he
I ran Vista x86 for about 6 months, but in July I switched over to x64. I'm glad I did. I might as well make use of the 4gb ram and 64-bit capable processor.
One word of advice from a person who made the mistake; Don't go running a bunch of registry cleaners on Vista x64. It offers no benefit, unless you're into screwing up your system.
It's definately something to pay close attention to. The Tjunction (or something like that) limit is 100 degrees. I think you need better cooling and/or reseat your heatsink.
If you change the ICH9R to AHCI mode in the bios you will lose your RAID functionality. But if you have it in RAID mode and have disks connected to the controller that have not been made RAID, they will operate in AHCI. I believe that is how I understand it anyways. If you want linux to pick up...
I actually found mine to be more stable in Vista. In XP, I would have to run RMClock to set my voltage slightly higher to remain prime95 stable. This has not been the case with Vista. I have a biostar Tforce4U and [email protected] 1.4v.
just cancelled my newegg order and I found this one : OEM
orRetail
I ordered the OEM, I already got a XP-90 cooler, The retail prices was better for me with monarch, too, cause I have to pay sales tax on newegg.
that is a good price on the 144 venus but how about this one? Opteron 165
I already have one but I couldn't resist... I had to buy another at this price. Dual core, usually able to overclock to FX-60 speeds... yeahhhh!!!
Hey guys. I've got a Chaintech VNF-250(09/16/05 Bios), 64-Bit Sempron 2500+, 2x512Mb Corsair Value Select memory. I'm running the CPU at stock volts, since this bios doesn't allow a Vcore adjustment. It does handle memory a little better than previous bioses. I run at this speed 24/7.
