Razer Mouse Requires Always-On Internet Connection?

Deathadder isn't my favorite mouse. The copperhead is, but they don't make those anymore. Fortunately, there are still downloadable drivers for DA. So, once they kill DA, I'll be sure and get *10* of them to last me hopefully for the next 5 years :p ... Or attempt to look for another mouse...

    Inside Google's Data Centers

I think the source images are stored on here somewhere... dunno how to grab 'em though. There's image source reference to the sub directory: Data%20centers%20%E2%80%93%20Google%20Data%20centers_files/[IMAGE_NAME_HERE].jpg but doesn't seem to work when I try to access it.

Right time to buy Velociraptor 1TB?

That's a pretty good idea, and it's probably what I'll do after making an investment in the disk storage department.

Right time to buy Velociraptor 1TB?

Good lord, man. You're not a nice person. You keep picking on the idea that I lacking certain fragments of technical information makes me an inferior tech. You're spending way too much time bullying me on the subject. And you know what they say about bullies. If I wasn't trying to seek help...

Right time to buy Velociraptor 1TB?

Well, there goes your attempt to not insult me. But, for what it's worth, I'm working on getting my A+ cert, not just getting it. There's a big difference there. And, as it is implied that you know, you should know that the A+ cert is geared mostly towards troubleshooting and fixing...

Right time to buy Velociraptor 1TB?

Looks pretty good :D Thanks for the bench screen, BusyBeaver! I got til the 29th to make my final decision on if I should take advantage of that 15% off deal. If I get that during a video capture would be awesome.

Right time to buy Velociraptor 1TB?

I'll consider investing in a new system just to see the results first hand. Besides, I kind of need to anyway since I'm working on my A+ Cert. The one thing I'm still skeptical on, which makes me want to stay where I'm at, is the GPU and the DX rendering. Newer versions of DX seem to get...

Right time to buy Velociraptor 1TB?

What do you mean move on? Doesn't my argument have any merit? What could I possibly benefit in a newer system with the views I have on today's games?

Right time to buy Velociraptor 1TB?

I guess I should explain why I'm still on a Single core processor. It's probably not a good reason, but I guess I'm old fashioned: It's raw power. These multicore processors, particularly with older applications such as the one I'll be doing the video capturing in (Unreal Tech 2.5 engine game...

Right time to buy Velociraptor 1TB?

From my experience, it usually is either the version of Fraps or the lack of available resources from either too many programs loaded or just the wrong ones loaded. I try to turn off every single possible service/app there is whenever I intend to publish a game video.

Right time to buy Velociraptor 1TB?

I've read HDD's can't necessarily take advantage of Sata 6Gbps like SSDs could. Is that true? Luckily I don't have to choose just the VRs, all WD 3.5" hard disks are currently 15% on newegg... 3.5" being the form factor of the package, mind you ;)
  15. T

Right time to buy Velociraptor 1TB?

Yes, the sig is still valid :) Plus, I'll be playing a game that was made in 2004 based off the Unreal Tech 2.5 engine, and will be using Fraps to capture the game videos. From my understanding, it will be $460 for two. I was hoping that these drives would benefit especially in raid 0. I've...

Right time to buy Velociraptor 1TB?

I've been thinking about getting two 1TB Velociraptors in raid 0 for mostly capturing game videos, and right now they are 15% off with a promo code on newegg. I think it's limit 1 per customer on the promo deal, but at the discount price it will come to $230. Think this is a good deal? Or do...

    X-Fi Titianium Fata1lty Champion

Thanks for the responses, guys! I wanted to use the X-Fi platinum/champion/whatever, the card with the I/O panel included simply for convenience. I don't think I have ever took advantage of the digital audio stuff, and I have no idea on how it works to be honest. I always just used the...

    X-Fi Titianium Fata1lty Champion

Does the Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium Fata1lty Champion card and I/O Panel use gold-plated connectors like their predecessors? Even though the I/O Panel started to use the 1/8" connectors as opposed to the Fata1lty FPS and X-Fi platinum cards, I was curious if the Champion version of the I/O...

Hardcore Gamers Still Prefer Physical Media

Kind of makes me wish I took advantage of those clearance PC games back in 1997 when they were selling the FormGen releases of Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold, and a lot of other Apogee releases, for $10 each.

Hardcore Gamers Still Prefer Physical Media

Or, perhaps people use the word "hardcore" lightly. There's sentimental value in having your own physical copy of the game from the manufacture. However, those days are over since, like Killa_2327 has stated previously in this thread, they don't include much anymore. Just a DVD style case, the...

Max Payne 3 Visual Effects and Cinematics

Don't forgot it that based on this video, it was for a graphic novel feel. This was done in XIII as well. And is there an article stating it's going to be a console port? I hope the game keeps the bullets as if they are projectiles like the previous two instead of instant hit scanning.

Report: Record PC Games Sales in 2011

I see what you're getting at, but I don't think it's any justification to the initial argument that the traditional way of PC games isn't dying, or to what you said about Steam not being too invasive when you have to do all those things to rid of their marketing practices in the first place...

Report: Record PC Games Sales in 2011

Luddites is a rough analogy. Well, that is not to say if gamers don't like playing video games, but do anyway because it puts food on the table. But you can't blame us for questioning Steam when we have to load(And log in to) an application to load a game that can run independently. An...

Windows XP Still The Dominant OS

+1 Don't need 7. Don't have the hardware for it anyway, nor do I plan to use software that 7 would utilize. If I was really interested in the new games, or if I wanted some video creation software, or if I needed lots of RAM to run a certain application is when I would consider upgrading.

Max Payne 3 Design and Technology Video

I guess. But, in the long run, it's a highly unnecessary front-end to run games of all things. It's like the old auto-run applications on optical media, but worse.

Max Payne 3 Design and Technology Video

Hopefully it will correlate with movement and/or mouse aiming speeds... My fingers are crossed that it won't be dependent on Steam or some other DRM software. If it will be, then I'll think twice before purchasing it.

    Music Industry Is Killing Piracy

Not exactly the collector's approach, but savvy nonetheless. The main advantage to physical media over downloads is having the jewel case/digipak and the inlays to the album. But then again, having that added stuff from the album really depends in your taste of music. If you're geared towards...

Yes, the vraptors would definitely be a raid 0 OS drive, and if possible have another for a storage/page file on my XP machine.I'm sticking with XP for various reasons, one being that trying to stick to a platform that is friendly to more of the older games (1997-2006). So basically I'll be...
