This is my mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813186086
My chipset gets very hot, the case thermometer reads 50 C sometimes and thats just measuring the temp of the heatsink. Should i get a new heatsink and if so what one?
The primary goal here is to cool the case better, it gets kind of toasty. The secondary goal is to filter the air with fan filters.
Heres my case:

First of all, good choice on the Foxconn. I've tried the Biostar, the DFI and then finally the Foxconn before i did not have problems. It is an excellent overclocker(much better than either Biostars I had) and has had no problems since day 1. Although the Bios is kind of a hassle to update...
Hey I have to say... from my experience these past two months, the Biostar has proven to be a really bad board. The first one had broken ethernet(a known problem with the rev 1.1 boards), it was also not a very good overclocker because the Vcore voltage fluctuated like a mofo. The second one I...
My RS482 board had restarting problems, and I've now gone through two Biostar boards with defects. First one had broken NIC, and the second one had a broken ram slot. So now, I don't know what to do. What are my other options?
I dont know anything about that case, but you should tell ppl your price limit on the cpu and graphics card. And why the 7800? Get the 7900 gt and I would choose evga because you get a life time warranty and overclocking and changing the heatsink does not void this, unless theres physical...
I sent an email to the tech support saying that after trying a different motherboard and power supply, it still wouldn't work.
His Respone:
I have heard of a few users with that problem and they moved to a much higher rated power supply like this one and the problems went...
my new 450w fsp came, and am running on it now. All the rails seem solid, and for 50 bucks! I was kinda worried because it was so cheap, but it looks like they made a solid psu without all the pretty sleaving, leds, and colors so it's cheap. We'll see if it reboots... I'm kinda stuck with...
well i just upped my southbridge, and northbridge(would northbridge matter?) volts by .1 and am testing it out. will let you know what happens. Also, my cpu voltage went from a steady 1.39 volts to fluctions between 1.36-1.37. If that means anything lol...
UPDATE: It didn't do anything...
ya its reported as 1.14v when it should be 1.2, but i remember i tried rasing this on the other board, with no noticable improvement at all. I do not think this is the problem, although you could try it. I think I only tried raising it .1 volts.
Also, I'm lookin to buy this power supply...
FUCK! It still has the problem. It just reboots less frequently now. It's rebooted twice since I posted. One last thing before i rma the power supply, is im gonna reformat it, and install as little drivers as i can, and see if it reboots then.
motherboard just came and now i got it overclocked to 2.4 with 1.4 volts on opteron. Same settings as with other motherboard. I will let you know if the reboots have stopped. So far, it looks promising. The cpu voltage on this board seems much more steady. Before it reported 1.37 volts now...
Yeah, I wouldm't trust that its actually fixed for atleast a couple weeks. I mean when I ran mine on stock, I didn't even know it had a problem at stock, because it didnt reboot at stock until 3 weeks after I had it. That's what threw me off, because I thought it was like settings I did when I...
uh what do u mean by lockups? Do you get errors in memtest? Because i just get rebooting, with no errors or blue screens. Are you getting windows errors? Or do u get rebooting that occurs as if someone hit the reset switch?
Also, the problems have been with the Enermax Liberty psus, so it...
did you ask if any of those ppl at dfi forums were using the liberty? Also I myself posted my problem in those forums. Also, there aren't that many rs482 posts over there... there seems to be more ppl at this forum than at dfi street.
you know... it could be coincidence that we...
ya im so reluctant to buy a new psu before making sure it runs with this mobo. Seems Liberty isnt the only psu having trouble too :( http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1047982
hmmm... the 12 rails look a bit weak on the seasonic actually. Do you think its enough? My enermax has 22A rating on the 12 volt rails, and the seasonic has only 15 and 14. Think itll be fine?
ok, I'm only talking about with the DFI Infinity RS482 motherboard. I'm not saying the psu is bad. It seems to have problems with the RS482 board. see the other posts about the RS482 for more information.
hey someone just posted in the reboot poll thread saying they had them without the liberty psu... So id test the motherboard on a dif psu before buying anything.
....shit.... he doesnt have a liberty psu....
Do you have any other symptoms before reboots like freezing or a blue screen? or does it just happen as if someone hit the reset button
ya its definately not that either the motherboard or psu are bad exactly. The psu seems perfectly normal temp. I mean i dont get errors in anything ive tested, and it runs seemingly normal, except that it restart randomly. Right now im trying to figure out what psu to buy thats the same size...
What's a good psu thats the same size as the liberty for the q-pack? I'm probably gonna get rid of this 500w liberty and I know that the liberty fits fine. it needs to power
