I forgot to add I simply took off the original fan and kept the original heatsink on. Only the fan was switched so in essence, it's still the same video card.
I got a few pink dots that went away when I added a fan to a fanless video card. (Kind of odd it was producing artifacts without a fan because it was a "fanless" card with heatpipes.)
I know this may be an isolated incident but when I tried twice to search for a local hospital, I kept getting hits for a hospital at the other end of the city. Only when I looked at a physical map did I know where I wanted to go. I could have missed my appointment on that information.
Is there a way to come up with a law to ban corporate stupidity? I'm kidding because you'd have to define it anyway.
Aren't they aware of their own mistakes with updates? This is beyond weird.
OK, lol, I'm not an audio engineer. I don't think there are any Guitar Centers in Canada so I don't know if I can listen to studio monitors before buying.
What about this idea I've read that studio monitors are too "neutral" too be enjoyable and have no real "warmth"?
It may be due to inferior speakers. Because I got that impression when trying out different Sony mini stereo systems. The cheapest one I actually liked (2nd behind Onkyo). But the more powerful ones, had progressively more and more bass and more masculine female voices. The Onkyo I liked...
I still think I'd rather have around 30 watts per channel.
I have another question though. Those people who were talking about the JBL LSR305 and Neumann speakers etc., do you use these as computer speakers for movies, games and music or just music?
heflys20, the JBL LSR305 are $260 a pair compared to $180 for the 3b. That's about 45% more. If we're talking about $400 speakers then going up to $500 is 25% more.
Possibly. The comments about the speakers sounding "crazy" didn't sound reassuring. lol
As a passing comment, does anyone know why some brands don't seem to be selling on Amazon anymore?
Thanks for the additional information. I was willing to consider more expensive or larger speakers. If I wanted larger and spend a little more, among others I would consider the Emotiva Airmotiv 4s. Then I thought about the amount of space on my desk, the fact there are volume buttons on top...
I'd like to thank the people who commented in this thread. I got a few ideas that made me think. I guess my original idea was like: "How can I get the ultimate audio for the cheapest price?". Then I read a comment from Steve Guttenberg on CNET that made me look at this in another way. He...
Thanks for the name but I've read some pretty strange comments on the JBL LSR305...

I said in post #20: "And since in post #18 it says you don't need a DAC." so I meant to say one of my options now still might be the Emotiva Airmotiv 3b...
I read a comment on EmotivaLounge that the Emotiva Airmotiv 3b sound great even without ribbon tweeters. So maybe that takes care of the comment in post #2 saying they won't sound great because of the lack of ribbon tweeters. And since in post #18 it says you don't need a DAC. As a matter of...
The Kef is more expensive than what I'd want to spend even if I was rich. The Audioengine A2, I've read a number of comments online from people saying they have something better than the A2
As for the Vanatoo Transparent One, the price is around the same as the Equator Audio D5. I still...
No, I said the DAC with Equator Audio D5 but now that I got the info on Vanatoo Transparent One having a built-in DAC, I find those more tempting. My budget would be flexible depending on what I find. If I have to save up and wait, I might do that.
I currently have a pair of Creative T12...
After doing more research, I saw some pretty good comments on the Emotiva Stealth DC-1 DAC. Apparently, some people who did blind tests with cheaper DACs didn't find they improved the sound. The DC-1 is kind of expensive so does anyone have cheaper alternatives?
I also found positive comments...
I compared an i5-4570 to an E8500 and it's literally twice as fast. That being said, taking 2 hours and 45 minute for a 2 and a half hour recording is kind of a lot. So, I'd rather wait for Skylake. As a matter of fact, I may end up with an i7 next time instead of an i5.
I'm just wondering if anyone here thinks it's pointless to use high quality speakers to connect to motherboard audio. Since the Realtek ALC1150 is supposed to replace a sound card, I wonder if it's still good enough.
I couldn't really hear the difference between an Asus Xonar D1 sound card and the Realtek ALC1200 audio on a motherboard. However, I noticed a tiny positive difference when I bought a motherboard with the Realtek ALC1150 audio (which is supposed to replace a sound card). Since I read it's more...
I only have a GT 640 and can play the new pre-alpha demo of Unreal Tournament at 1080p with mostly medium settings (these parameters were auto-set by the game). Anyway, I like my HP 25xi whether it's for gaming or browsing the web. The current model is HP 25xw however.
Just a passing comment. If you were wondering what's the next step down, I'd say a 25 inch like the HP 25xw (1080p). I found very few 26 inch monitors on amazon.
EDIT: I just found a 25 inch Dell: Dell UltraSharp U2515H
I have a 25 inch HP 25xi (I understand the new model is 25xw). Anyway, when I'm playing games I almost forget the monitor has borders. I'm probably about 20 inches from my screen and I can't imagine anything smaller or larger. I have it usually at 720p and find everything seems to fit fine...
My great crystal ball says I'd likely buy a... ASUS H170-I Plus. Or, actually, after calculating my budget I figured I might not. lol (Or, maybe an AsRock or Gigabyte.)
With Windows 7 Pro, it's included. If it's really dead I'd be surprised (I won't check unless I need to). In any case, I'd buy the Windows 10 Pro edition as long as there's some bonuses included. (Windows 7 Pro has XP mode and Windows Media Center.)
MSFT may have more control over the industry now. They'll be able to make your computer require a new CPU, new RAM etc. just to have a usable computer.
For anyone who'd like to know, I did some creative guessing to calculate that the 6700K might be about twice the speed of an Intel i5-4570. I might end up going for the 6700 (non-K) to get the lower power consumption (65 watts). I don't need 100% increase but I'd be happy with 50 to 65% gain.
I bought a Coolermaster K280 case (which I like enough) at bestbuy.ca. Of course, I ended up buying most of the rest to complete my computer at newegg.ca but I still got free shipping on my case from bestbuy.ca I hope this moves assures they can stay alive.
