well guess what "mr. i know everything about drives" ?
i dont give a damn what you think
i said "most" and i should have said "alot" or "many" of other drives use NEC internals, and i said "about 5 minutes" and it turned out to be 6 minutes once i got things working better, and if i got...
definately go with the dual core 165 if you can afford it and a good overclocking mobo, PSU, and memory
from a benchmarkers perspective, i had an Opty 150 single core, then got a 165, it made a huge difference in some things, and only a little in others, but i can tell you my Opty 165 at...
yeah, the drive supports the RitekF1 at 16x for sure
it looks like there is a modded BIOS at that site i linked to that enhances performance also that i am gonna try
but i found my biggest issue, stupid me, i should have thought about this before
i have a 7200rpm 8mb cache SATA main...
well, considering a 2.6-2.7Ghz dual core Opty or X2 stomps any single core Opty or A64 at 3Ghz as far as raw performance numbers, Sandra CPU Arithmetic, 3DMark 06 CPU tests, etc.......i'd say it not as hard if you look at the performance gained instead of raw speed
i have gotten alot of the...
It seems like Ritek have been good from the little i have read lately about media, i see it mentioned alot, thats what my Memorex 16x DVD-R discs are, RitekF1.....but maybe not...??
guess i need to do some media research
i havent figured out, well, havent looked into it yet, but i cant figure out why a 16x capable burner, with 16x capable media, wont even hold a steady 10-12x..........let alone even hit 16x....
i have the latest firmware for the drive, and i know the rest of the system isnt holding it back...
i think that answered that question, you typically have to pay much much more for the same quality LCD as a comparable CRT, LCD's have come a long way, but they just aren't there yet, not for gaming and stuff like that anyways, for office work, yes, they are ideal, like you said, they save alot...
i said about 5 minutes and as it turns out, i just burned a couple of discs and they took like 8 minutes, so if you want to call me a liar, fine, i never timed them, it just always seemed like it was always 5 minutes, its not like this is critical info, that drive is still one of the fastest...
please do, its a great value and fast as all hell, but keep in mind you need an overclocking friendly motherboard, power supply, and cooling, although many people are getting pretty good results with stock cooling because these Opty's arent needing alot of voltage to get high clocks......
dang.....i think i would have dropped that cash on a new mobo and cpu to get in the PCI-E swing of things, but that wouldnt be quite enough for a cpu, mobo, and vid card.....but if you sold what you have and combined it with that $350 it would have been.... :D
evga combo is $375 + $200-300...
you bought a 7800GS from CompUSA today?
i cant find a 7800GS anywhere, including CompUSA'a site
you know, it is out i guess.....found this after doing more searching...
http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2616&p=4
so how does it run, specs? cost?
how are we supposed to know which is better if it isnt even released yet and there are no benchmaks around...
my guess is the GS will be slower than the GT, just like the 6800GS, but also in the way the 6800GS was built on a newer process, it is likely that a 7800GS may be able to...
wow, what is your room temp?
mine is admittedly a bit on the cool side, 15*c, but its where i am comfortable, i just wear a sweatshirt around the house is all, i hate heat
that XP-120 should be cooling better than my Zalman, or at least somewhat, I've had two XP-120's back when I had a...
well, you know how unrelaible mobo sensors are for voltages.....and that a physical check with a multimeter is the only way to correctly measure a power supply's ability and tolerances.....so the same, in my thinking anyways, can apply to the temp sensors, they are just as susceptable to error...
now thats interesting.....get it to show temps....hrm....
but yeah, it just shows an error code if the PC wont post or boot, FF, on the evga NF41 anyways means normal boot status
see my sig, running 300x9 100% stable
alot of people have mixed feelings on the eVga board, but for me it has been rock solid, the only thing i wish it had was in the memory voltage settings, you can choose 1.5, 1.6, 1.75, 1.85, 3.05, 3.25v.....which is good, i just wish it had a 2.95v and...
you got a really good CPU bro! i just got my 165 from monarch a week or so ago, CCB1E 0550VPMW step
i idle around 26*c with mine at 1.475v running 300x9, full load, as in 6+ hours of two instances of Prime 95 is 44*c, pretty friggin good considering
here's something i did that may cause...
i got the perfect one for you man!
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16827152058
$44 shipped brand new
i have it, it's damn fast, matter of fact, THG did a review of the latest drives, and they tested the 3540 which is one model older than this one, and it basically...
but given the choice between a Opty 165 and a 3800+ X2, the extra $30 is worth it for the Opty 165
and dont pay attention to the "Opteron not officially supported" claims, thats just AMD propaganda to get you to buy an X2 instead of a dual core Opteron, i have never seen a decent mobo, with...
i dunno guys, but i guess i just got lucky, my 165 is a CCB1E 0550VPMW stepping and using this NF41 EVGA mobo, i am running 300x9, 2.7Ghz Prime stable 6+ hours at 1.475v, thats barely above stock voltage, and i have not seen over 44*c full load either....which means my Zalman 7000CUB HSF is...
i dunno, i just dont get it......but i guess if someone has no job or whatever.....i was just never a "get it just because it's free" kind of guy......i'd rather earn it honest.....someone is paying for it you know, it's not like it comes from nowhere
sorry, i know you guys are happy about...
1280 x 1024 / 60 Hz
ouch......60Hz makes my eyes bleed.....thats the problem with cheap CRT's, they only support low refresh rates
my suggestion, find the cheapest one you can afford that will do 75 or 85Hz at the resolution you will use the most
my brother in law bought one of those...
evga 6800GS
evga makes the best deals if you like to overclock or tweak your card, better than BFG or XFX, evga's lifetime warranty even covers removing stock cooling and adding aftermarket cooling, covers it if you overclock it too far and let the smoke out, even covers a bad vid card bios...
i gotta agree........the only thing you should feel responsible for is if it showed up DOA, other than that, it's a done deal, "sorry 'bout your luck chuck", thats the chance you take on buying used hardware
well, just because it needs to be said, the Opty165 is stock 1.8Ghz, running 2.7Ghz now, the Opty150 was stock 2.4Ghz, was running 2.8Ghz, do your homework. I'm done.
Nice work Cent!! SOrry about the side tracking, I'm done with that discussion......
