But are these mobos bootable with a FSB 1333 processor and an old BIOS? This is imortant if someone buys an ASUS mobo but doesn't have an Intel processor other than, say, E6750.
How does the FSB:Mem ratio change? X-bit labs - Asus P5K Deluxe Mainboard Review reported that the selectable ratios change as FSB increases:
FSB between 200 and 220: 3:5 (667), 1:2 (800)
FSB between 221 and 292: 4:5 (667), 2:3 (800), 3:5 (889), 1:2 (1066)
FSB over 292: 1:1 (667), 5:6...
Is Foxconn FV-N79SM2D2-OC really HDCP-ready?
I don't see see any information on HDCP in Manufacturer Product page.
Further OCWorkBench's reveiw said the contradictory: Cons No HDCP.
The official page of the motherboard in the ABIT global site:
Fatal1ty F-I90HD (ABIT Global site)
So there is no "T" in the official name of the board.
OK, I should have mentioned the following technical document:
Intel® I/O Controller Hub 7 (ICH7) Family Datatsheet
Southbridge ICH7/ICH7R was released in June 2005, along with 945P/PL/G/GZ northbridge and is also coupled with 975X. If you look at many 945P(or 975X)/ICH7 boards, you will...
That's not true. Every member of ICH7 family has one PATA controller (and 4 SATA). For example,
ABIT AW9D (non-MAX): ICH7R, PATA/SATA: 1/4, no additional storage controller
That's exactly the reason why I included a short guide to chipsets. Please read "Overview of Recent Chipsets for the Intel Platform", "Core 2 with nVIDIA nForce4 for Intel" and "Core 2 with nVIDIA nForce 500 for Intel".
To summarize,
nForce4 for Intel = NB: C19 + SB: MCP-04 (= nForce4 for...
I created a complete list of Core 2 motherboards. It is not a mere list of motherboards but it includes a guide to chipsets and near complete (?) specifications of boards. I have posted in two places and it has been welcomed (it became a sticky in one of them). I wanted post it here but the text...
The following is a fairly complete list of Conroe ATX & mATX motherboards.

What's bad with ASUS M2NPV-VM is no HTT multiplier options in BIOS. Many fail to POST at FSB 215 to 220 perhaps because of this. But FSB is still up to 400.

The original DOS flash utility included in 7207v30.zip and 7207v31.zip for MSI K8NGM2-FID was ADSFI719.EXE, which was a wrong utility and caused the "Unkown Chipset" error...
I revised my previous post. Sorry for confusion. I stated three methods of flashing. All three work very safely. But the Windows mode is the easiest one and I recommend it. If you need v3.13, you can download it from AVS Forum and flash to it in Windows mode instantly. I posted the link...

So far three versions of BIOS were released. I posted several comments on these versions and how to flash BIOS. But my descriptions were a little bit confusing or even...
Open the Power Options from the control panel and choose the power scheme "Minimal Power Management" to enable Cool n Quiet.

52MB/s is normal. If you want better performance, you will need RAID.
For cool n quite to work, you have to install AMD Athlon 64 Dual-Core Processor Driver, that is included in MSI CD.

Somebody in AVS Forum posted BIOS v3.13 (post #544). You need to register to download it. Flashing works only in DOS mode. You need a FDD, a blank FD, and a bootable FD.
Perhaps v3.13 is the best BIOS available right now.

For those who buy the MSI board, overclocking is of secondary or even no priority. They choose it mainly for other reasons. If one choose this board for overclocking purpose, he is either stupid or ignorant. As for me, I just want to squeeze max power from what I paid for. If max CPU clock were...

OK, I flashed BIOS to v3.10, the latest official BIOS, from Live Update in Widows mode (it works only with Internet Explorer, it does not work with FireFox). At first v3.10...
Mine is the retail XP-90 (with Thermalright fan) I bought from Jab-Tech ($31.95). It is running at around 1700rmp (Smart Fan in BIOS is working) and I can barely hear noise from my computer. The retail version seems to be out of stock. Panflo L1BX is certainly better that the stock fan. Good luck.
This is completely wrong. I actually connected a LCD to the VGA port of my Leadtek GeForce 6200 TC card and another LCD to the VGA port of the MSI board, setting "OnChip and PCIe VGA selection" to "Both exist and OnChip VGA by frame buffer select" in BIOS Setting. The dual LCD setting worked...
Hello W6FO,
Perhaps you have already done it, but try to "isolate" the problem, that is, take CPU and memory out of equation.
1. Set CPU multiplier to 6 or 7 (Cell_Menu > Voltage Control Function > CPU Frequency Configuration > FID Change in BIOS), this will take CPU out of equation.
2...
