Alright, finally an update. I replaced the old i7 920 CPU with a new one X5690 and set the BCLK to 165 from 180 and set the voltage levels in the BIOS back to Auto, which cranked up the CPU to 1.35 V from 1.2 V and the RAM from 1.5 V to 1.56 V which is a bit lot more than the old system running...
After 10.5-years of running on an Intel i7-920 4C 2.6 GHz @ 3.6 GHz Air I am finally upgrading to the Intel Xeon X5690 6C 3.46 GHz and will try for the 4.2 GHz overclock that seems to be pretty standard overclock on Air after spending all of $85 USD on eBay for it.
Getting 2 extra Cores and...
OCZ NEVER AGAIN!!!
Just wanted to add my voice to the choir on the net to say that another OCZ Vertex Gen 1 40GB Solid State Hard Drive is dead.
Below are the units that have died that I purchased or recommended for others. Burned by all of them, even the PBX system I built for friends that...
I just received this card in the mail, flipped the little BIOS switch next to the CrossFire connector on the card and now it shows 1536-shaders. I didn't have to do anything else to unlock it.
SAPPHIRE 100312-3SR Radeon HD 6950 Dirt3 Edition 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready...
Got the card and just installed it. I changed the BIOS switch and now my card is showing 1536 Unified Shaders in GPU-Z, easiest unlock 6970 ever.
Installed Saphire Trixx and overclocked it 925 MHz since 950 MHz froze 3DMark Vantage New Calico test at 1920x1200. Running at ~72C temps and 50%...
Half a year ago I speced out a system for a co-worker wanting to upgrade. He was only interested in playing Civilization 5 so I heartily recommended the newly released MSI nVidia 560 Ti TwinFrozr II since that card edged ahead of the 6950 and even the 6970 in the only game that he was...
Already did the research to unlock the shaders using RBE and also to overclock the GPU on it a healthy ~100 MHz amount but leave the memory stock since it doesn't overclock well.
I re-checked my bang-for-buck ratio and this card is it. The 6970 is ~$100 USD more expensive +20% and only offers...
I just pulled the trigger and ordered the 6950 2GB linked to above along with Battlefield 3 Limited Edition. Looking forward to reliving the fun times of flying helicopters with my full stick, rudder, and throttle.
I'm thinking of switching camps from being a long time nVidia fan until the wholeFermi debacle soured me on the company and their treatment of their customers and the heat that these cards produce.
Looking at the latest Battlefield 3 benchmarks it seems like the AMD (ATI) cards are 10% faster...
I just found out late that STALKER Call of Pripyat has been out for a month and I missed the release and ordered it just now (probably a good thing since the update patches and mods are out now anyway). Now I'm in the market for another video card upgrade to go to something faster than my...
You both do realize that you're talking about a different model number with different LCD panel technology according to TFT Central.com, right?
HP LP2465 - 6ms G2G - 24"WS Samsung S-PVA (LTM240M2)
HP LP2475w - 6ms G2G - 24"WS LG.Display H-IPS (LM240WU4-SLA1)
I was confused when you mentioned...

Post - #20
Thanks to the TFT Central review of the HP LP2475w by Simon Baker on 9 September 2008 I found out how to get into the Service Menu, again after forgetting how to. I read this review a while back when I was deciding to...
I ran the Lagom LCD Test - Response Time with the moving bars and there is clearly visible negative ghosting shown as a black trailing bar at any of the 64/128 96/224 128/255 tests on both monitors and the issue looks the same on the old and new version.
You can see the images of this below in...
I'm posting pictures of the individual monitor tests.
Be aware that I took these pictures at ISO-200 film speed and you'll see the missing little boxes under the moving vertical trip. The blur and ghosting tests should have been done at ISO 800 or ISO 1600 speed so I will try to re-take them...
Patrick already beat me to it but I'm the person who bought the second monitor and I ran two different input lag tests on it with the monitors side-by-side in clone mode and confirmed that there is absolutely no difference in input lag at all between these two monitors. The details are in my...
Here are some pictures from the Lagom LCD Test page.
They are taken on my old and inaddequate Canon PowerShow SD1000 camera with a too small and not so good CCD chip that produces a lot of noise and grain at low light and my complete inexperience with photography. In the future I'll see if I...
If you check the pictures of my desk, it doesn't even have space to put a third monitor on it for ATI's EyeFinity setup. I'd have to have two desks to do that kind of a setup! :D
Input Lag Test
I did as you requested, and the result is the same input lag for for both monitors.
(Old monitor on left, new monitor on right.)
I used the stopwatch application from the post below. It only counts to 1/100 of a second instead of 1/1000 but it gives the same results in...
Old Monitor vs New Monitor
The old monitor already has 2,071 backlight hours on it or roughly 270-days of usage at an average 7.7-hours per day since I bought it roughly 9-months ago on 2009-05-04.
Obsolete Software and Missing Features
I tried to use the famous DisplayMate software to...
I received the second monitor yesterday and I set it up. Here is the information of both monitors, old first, new second.
Model: HP LP2475w, HP LP2475w
Hardware: GIG122, GIG173
Firmware: GIG052, GIG077
Unknown: S-L1106, S-L0924
Panel: LPL LM240WU4, LGD LM240WU4
Country: Made in China, Made...
I've read the rest of this thread, from page 50 where I posted about my own monitor to the current page 70 and I have to say that Skakruk you complain the loudest of out anyone here about your 5 returned monitors. Perhaps you are unlucky or just notice the red-green tint issue more strongly...
I just ordered my second HP LP2475w from ProVantage.
I just moved to a new city and apartment and I won't be using the second DVI out port on my video card for connecting to my 50" plasma HDTV anymore and I realized last night trying to do photo editing that I have to minimize and maximize...
New BIOS 0707 - System Freezing when Idle
Just a little update, the new Asus P6T BIOS 0707 makes this system freeze when idle. This is likely due to a change that Asus made to their BIOS and the freezing is likely the symptom of under voltage. I will start the process of diagnosing the...

You gave me very good feedback and advice. I had the doubts about the Corsair HX620W jumping around in my head because of "what if I want SLI..." so I jumped on the 750 W. You gave a good recommendation and feedback so I really appreciate that.
I'm just a little pissed that I'll only be using...
New Power Supply
Here are the pictures of the load testing on the new Corsair HX750W power supply.
This power supply already seems more efficient since on CPU Load my old OCZ PowerStream 520W pulled 384 W but this new one only does 326 W, for a difference of 58 W. On Idle the old one did 234...
I'd love to leave the Multi at Auto for Turbo 21x multi-core and 22x single-core overclocking but I found my system to be unstable once it hits and stays at Turbo 22x.
I also didn't experiment with trying to find out a stress test suite that would focus on only one core to force the system to...
Well, I got the new Corsair 750HX power supply today and I am very happy with it. I tested it and it is okay, installed it, and ran a Prime95 stress test on it for a few hours to make sure that it works okay. Everything is fine and there were no problems with any voltage drops during the stress...

I might want to try that but frankly I don't know how much of an improvement that would make especially since the back of my case blows into a wall and using that as a intake would probably blow hotter air inside instead of cooler air from the center of the room. My room is in the sunny corner...
I saw the recommendation for my cooler as a good value for the low price and I thought that 4-heat pipe direct contact would be a good idea. Turns out that it isn't so bad now with the intake fan and it is giving me close to the same temperatures that other people are getting with their other...
BCLK Is Unstable
I have already mentioned this before in this thread but I can't push the BCLK higher than 180 even if I hit my processor and QPI with 1.35 V or as high as 1.45 V it just freezes. I already tried low multi's like 19, 18, and 12 and it doesn't work because BCLK won't raise...
Yes, I agree with you about the 620HX being enough but the 750HX giving more head room. Since I'm having this nagging doubt in my mind since last night I'm going to take the hit and spend the extra $25 on the 750 W to give myself extra head room.
There might be another GTX 260 down the line...
Newegg just shipped my Corsair 620HX so it's too late to cancel but I have the option of refusal on delivery, and I'll get all my money back. I did this once already and it worked fine, I already apologized in advance to them for doing it last time and possibly having to do it again with this...
I placed the order yesterday but I'm a little curious if I should have paid the extra $25-30 and purchased a 750 W power supply like one of the two below just in case I ever get another video card and decide to go SLI.
I have to read up on some of the video card reviews again and this time pay...
The recommendations that you listed without Antec in the picture look almost like the Newegg Power Search results that I got myself when I did a search for modular power supply 600-800 W from Seasonic or Corsair.
I'm favoring the Corsair 620HX modular model because in all the time that I've...
