Not necessarily. I could set things up so that line of sight wouldn't be a problem. I just prefer the RF route so that I don't need to point it anywhere in order for it to work.

I figured someone would say that. The point of the remote is to have instant access.... not to have to unlock my phone each time and open the app every time I want to do anything.

I use my monitor for my PS3 and Wii U as well. I'm all for using display port, but I still need HDMI on my monitor.
