It's possible that marketing people sometimes don't know what they're talking about. :)
I actually flattened out my Eyefinity setup to fix the fisheye problem. I sit really close (nearsighted) and the distortions on the side monitors when I was moving around were nauseating. It's fine now...
You linked to an HDMI cable, not a Displayport cable. You need an active Displayport adapter to have three monitors working. (I'm assuming all three monitors are DVI before you start adding adapters)
No ideas on the Crossfire issue.
RK, I'm using that setup with Samsung monitors with an oddball resolution (2048x1152). Two of them are on DVI and the third is using a Sapphire adapter...

The 785 runs the first two slots at 8x/8x and the third at 4x. The 890 does the exact same thing.
After the recent testing that showed differences between 8x and 16x are miniscule, I'm not worried about bandwidth being an issue. And raw speed can't be the issue since the 785 and the 890 run...
I've been running a 5770 on my Asrock 785G for a while and finally decided to get a second one to do Crossfire with, partly since I've always wanted to do this since the Voodoo2 days but just never got around to it. :)
While the card was on the way from Newegg, I did some research about how...
I'm using one of these as a secondary card and to run GPU workunits in BOINC, and I don't trust the fan on it to last very long if I keep the card hot. Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced HS/fan that'd fit on one of these?
I was looking at one of these at Newegg...
I'm using a pair of 280's (2.4ghz, dual core) in a Tyan 2892 motherboard using cheapo Masscool heatsinks. My temps under full load are just shy of 65 degrees C. Is this reasonable? Should I worry, or is it perfecly reasonable? I have no intention of overclocking.
Once annoyance in the realm...
As of a few days ago, still very small discounts in the Austin, TX store...I don't recall anything more than 20% off. I marvel at how bad thier prices are. 15-20$ for a 120mm fan? Yikes!
As several folks have pointed out, how long it takes a program to load is mainly a hard drive issue. Have you defragged your drive lately? That might help.
As Phide said, if this was the case the CPU temperature would slowly increase until it burned up.
A less efficient cooling system will remove all of the heat that your CPU produces--it will just stabilize at a higher temperature (relative to the air that it's dumping heat into) All passive...
I've not tried it myself, but I hear (and it makes sense) that splitting up the flow creates the problem of keeping the water from mostly just following the path of least resistance, starving the more restrictive components.
Then again, your RAM probably dosen't NEED that much cooling. :)
A huge res would make temperature changes happen more slowly, but it wouldn't meaningfully decrease the temperature your PC would eventually reach under load.
A second rad would be flat out better.
If you didn't run your PC for very long at a stretch, you could probably manage with just a...
I'm trying to use thin glass sheets for a project, and the edges on it have claimed several patches of skin. 8/ It was suggested that I could use a butane torch to 'polish' the edges--I'm familiar with doing that to acrylic, but will that actually work on glass? I'm happy to buy the torch if it...
Distilled water plus HydrX. Using it for two years now, no problems...it does leave a thin green deposit on components. I only noticed that when I took them out of the loop.
Most catfish don't like warm water.
In an aquarium, every surface gets covered by a biofilm of bacteria and other beasties that live off of fish poop and bits of uneaten food. I would not want this in my watercooling loop! W/C'ers with clean loops already run the risk of having stuff grow in...
I had one of those and it split along the seam where the barb went in...just a little, it didn't leak enough to damage anything, but I replaced it with an acrylic res that didn't use tapered barbs. I may have overtightened the barbs, so it may have been all my fault. Be aware of the possibility. :)
What about that 8-channel PCI card fan controller?

...also out of stock, but someone else might still have some around. It's software controlled and looks like you could do some neat stuff with it.
12 gauge 'zip cord' from Lowe's/Home Depot is a good deal...not too expensive and well-regarded by more skeptical audiophiles and engineers alike.
Admittedly I skimp and just use 18 gauge lamp cord for my surrounds.
The shorter your runs, the less effect the cable will have on the sound...
The Ars Technica is always a good starting point:

Some of the other hardware sites post similar guides, but I always check the one at Ars first and foremost. :)
I had a lot of maddening problems with my 7800GS AGP until I updated the AGP driver for my motherboard. MSI has a utility that allegedly gets the latest drivers for your system, but it was not downloading the latest AGP driver...once I did that by hand, the artifacts and random freezeups went...
...and a NUMA-aware OS as well, I assume? Apparently XP sp2 supports it.
According to wikipedia:
"Typically, this takes place by using inter-processor communication between cache controllers to keep a consistent memory image when more than one cache stores the same memory location. For...
I've heard several people suggest that having memory on each CPU isn't a noticable performance gain in real-world applications...it'll mainly drive up a few benchmarks and little else.
From personal experience, I don't see a big difference in SETI unit times between my NUMA-enabled Tyan 2885...
I'd change one thing at a time, unless you really want to buy both a PS and a motherboard.
Have you tried to see if you can get a POST error beep after removing all add-on cards (video, sound, etc) and the memory?
Have you reset the CMOS?
One warning about EL tape/wire...if you leave it on 24/7, its lifetime seems to be short. It gets dimmer and dimmer over the course of a few months in my experience.
They also don't put out that much light in the first place--not necessaraly a bad thing, but if you want effects viewable in a...
Get a larger acrylic reservior. Mount a small LCD behind it. Display a video of bubbles in water on this. For extra points, mount a flow meter and speed up the playback rate of the video clip proportional to water movement.
:)
More seriously, I have a little acrylic bayres and the small...
Boiling water does the opposite of distilling it. Distilled water is the cheapest thing you'll every buy for your PC, just get some at the grocery store. :)
