I've got tendonitis in both wrists and after playing with a tablet, I've been considering a multi-touch display for my Windows 7 machine. My girlfriend is an artist and she uses her Wacom Cintiq (LCD with digitizer pen input) for mousing due to similar problems with her right arm.
My main...
What he probably means is that Google couldn't use these patents as a form of "mutually assured destruction" against the other patents that Microsoft and others are threatening handset makers with.
To give some more background, the crappy-ass state of patents today means that the best defense...
Note that the invite is not the important thing. Rather than having a set number of invites, Google+ instead limits the number of sign-ups. Therefore, it depends how soon you sign up when it's open rather than if/when you were sent the invite.
So much confusion here. Confirmed that this indeed refers to Google Profiles, which were the predecessor to Google+ profiles. I believe if you sign up for Google+, it converts your existing Google Profile page if you have one.
All of the privacy settings on the Google+ profile page still apply...
I think all the Z68 boards I was looking at have Virtu right now, but good to know.
On my own, the main differences for the ASRock Z68 Pro3 are:
No extra SATA 3 controller (only 2 ports)
Only 1 PCI-E x16 slot
No firewire nor eSATA
No PHY interconnect for the NIC
I found a review at...
I've got all my new parts for my new 2500k build ordered, except the mobo which is out-of-stock, backordered, or just overpriced at locations that have it. The ASRock Z68 Extreme4 is available, but as expensive or more as the P8Z68-V Pro. What am I losing if I go with that, or the cheaper and...
Anyone know the difference between the P8Z68-V PRO and the P8Z68-V. TigerDirect has them both with at $20 price difference, but hard to tell what the difference between them is without going line-by-line through all the marketing stuff.
[Edit] Found the Asus compare page. Here's what the PRO...
I dunno, you could say it's being discreet behind the iGPU with Virtu :D. But seriously, you're not the only one. I was fine with the mistake on page 1, but then it bugged me when I saw it repeated.
Just chiming in to say I'm proud of the people here at the [H]. I half-expected to see comments with people joining in on the FUD, and was pleased to find you guys paying attention to the facts of the article rather than the spin. Bravo!
I understand the scammer concern, but I figure Google already has to deal with that kind of thing when it comes to ad clicks. I assume if they have something in place that prevents them from having to pay out lots of money for ad click fraud, they should be able to deal with the +1 clicks.
Wasn't this reported months ago when OSX got the update that changed this calculation? I remember there being a bit of hoopla about it when it initially happened.
Technically SI prefixes like kilo, mega, etc. are meant to operate in powers of 10. It's just that we've historically applied...
I don't believe audio CD ripping actually violates DMCA. The trick with DMCA is that it doesn't allow you to get around encryption. Audio CDs are not encrypted at all; DVDs from major studios are. The problem here is that DMCA trumps Fair Use, where it really should be the other way around...
That looked really promising, but unfortunately it did not work for me. I added the reg key and rebooted and there's no change. People in that post seem to be discussing issues with nVidia drivers, but I'm using an ATI card.
I have a Radeon 4830 and a Westinghouse L2410NM. The video card has both DVI and HDMI out, but the display only has HDMI for digital input. When using a DVI->HDMI cable, everything is fine. When I use a straight HDMI cable, however, the text is a bit fuzzy and images have jagged edges.
I'm...
In California, ZZF charges ~$7 tax. Amazon has this drive for $84.99 w/free shipping and no tax. Effectively, ZZF is only $8 cheaper (providing the rebate goes through).
Eh, I much prefer a Power Squid. I have more problems dealing with giant power bricks than I do with wanting my wiring to look neat. I'm fine so far just shoving stuff behind a table or something when it needs to look nice. Although most of the time I just leave it out for accessibility...
I'm inclined to disagree with you here. A majority of my company's developers are UCI grads and we're doing quite well. We've actually been expanding and still hiring throughout this economic downturn.
The article says they tested with Firefox 3. Is the article just being imprecise, or did they seriously use an outdated version of Firefox instead of 3.5?
I'm still unsure here, because I think my P6N SLI Platinum is a 650i, not a 680i. Am I SOL?
Edit: Had to go to a Google cached copy of the Global MSI site to find my answer. Lists Q8200 as being incompatible with my mobo at newest firmware revision (1.7).
Err, looks like we had some posts lost due to DB rollback.
For future readers: I had asked whether it was worth cancelling my order paying more then double price to go with a 260, and somebody responded saying the 4830 was good enough. It's now a moot point though, as the 4830 has already...
Price difference gets much higher trying to bump to 1GB if I want to keep at a 256-bit memory interface (128-bit and below is painful I've heard, but let me know if my sources are incorrect on that one).
I think I'm going to go with this $75AR 4830 512MB from Newegg just because it's so cheap...
So a few things have happened recently that led me here to ask for advice.
1.) I got a new 24" display that I like to run at 1920x1200
2.) My 7600GT died
3.) I had thought it was my PSU, so I got a new Corsair 650TX.
I'm not a heavy gamer (only WoW right now), but I realize I'm running a...
Trying to find a decent AGP card to replace a 9800XT that bit the dust. I'm okay going lower performance, but something comparable. Shooting for the $30-$40 shipped range.
I'd like to get it here (SoCal) by the 2nd if I can.
Go on eBay, grab a Motorola e815. Trust me.
Actually, don't trust me, because trusting anyone without a source is dumb. Just look around for posts on the e815 on HowardForums and you'll see it has a bit of a reputation.
Depends on if you like coding with tables or not. Tables are easy if you just want to get things working, but after learning all the powerful stuff you can do with divs and CSS, you really feel hampered by how much of it doesn't work in IE.
After doing a fair amount of programming in VIm, I'm at the point where I'm dealing with projects big enough to warrant the productivity gain of an IDE. I'm looking for something that has good support for web languages ((X)HTML, CSS, JavaScript at bare minimum, PHP and Ruby on Rails would be...
