i7 3770T - Where to buy in US

I am trying to find a reputable dealer that is selling the i7 3770T CPU at a reasonable price and I am having a tough time of it. Anyone know of a reputable place to buy this CPU at that has a price close to the Intel tray price of $194. Most of the distributers do not carry the item or require...

    HGST NAS @ NE

I picked 5 of these up for $149 at Fry's on Friday. Their Friday ad has these in store only at this price. I think the price is good for quite a few days but you should check the Friday ad on the Fry's site to ensure the deal is still on. It says limit to 1 per customer but I still got 5...

    Lenovo vs. Dell Business Laptops

My vote goes with the Lenovo. I have had the e6500 and the top lower left bezel next to the tackpad became extremely hot. Core i7 users are reporting the same problem with the 6510 as their palm rests just above a very hot CPU when it is under full load. Also both the Dell and Lenovo are in...

    Seagate 1TB for $189

Watch out with these drives. Many are old stock with original bad firmware. I bought some last time this deal came around with BB and the drives were manufactured 7 mos prior to purchase also creating a warranty problem with Seagate due to the way Seagate claims their warranty works. Returned...

This is old stock with old firmware that causes cache not to be read. Numerous stories of BB trying to clear these old drives out. I bought one with Manufacture date Oct 2007 also causes a warranty problem with Seagate. If you buy these open in the store and check to see if it is the latest...

    BB Seagate 1TB HDD $189 Starting 4/6

The Seagate drives I got from BB were 32mb versions and .11. There is a 16mb 1T Seagate drive in the 7200.11 product mix; but they are not the ones in this sale. Just look at the BB ad and do a google search of the Seagate part number and it will telly you what this drive is.

    BB Seagate 1TB HDD $189 Starting 4/6

Picked up 4 at BB today, Friday, for $189 for a new NAS. Price matched Frys $189 to get the Sunday price. BB was not to impressed with the Sunday BB price but had to give it up when I showed them the Fry's ad. 10% coupon was not accepted but I can always go to another BB and see if it will...

    Dual NEC 2690s = Mistake?

If you decide you are going to buy all 3 NEC's you probably should buy them all at once. The 3o inch of the NEC 2690 is rumored to be around the corner and probably will be shown at CES this year. Considerr the 2490, a slightly more affordable and highly satisfying display. NEC also has...

    Buying LCD's from Newegg

I would avoid Screwegg for LCD purchases. There are return policy on LCD's is not very good and almost forces you to deal with the manufacturer if you have a problem. Find someone local so that you can insure yourself a proper return for a problematic display.

    Planar PX2611W 26"

Your wait may be over soon. In January Samsung stated they were hoping to release in Q3/Q4 their 30 inch LED display piece called the x30. The prototype was very impressive as was the proposed price ($4500US). I am not sure where they are at right now with the model.

I echo Rembrandt's thoughts as well. Well done ToastyX. Rarely do we have the opportunity to have someone contrast two fine products so quickly after the release of the Planar product. Hudder's comments have to be taken relative to the adage of in this case you get more for paying more...

    Under $1000 for Photo Editing

I do not believe that the Planar 24 inch is an S-IPS panel. The 26 inch Planar product is an H-IPS panel. It really does not matter where you buy it as long as it is an authorized reseller. It seems as if alot of people are having problems understanding the technical features of the Planar...

    Monitor Calibration Systems and you!

I use a Gretag Macbeth Eye-One Pro photospectrometer. It acutally cost more than most LCD monitors. It does a great job but is a bit difficult to maneuver because of its bulk. I also use it to calibrate large screen television displays. It is a bit over the top and really should only be...

    21"CRT vs 24" LCD?

I do not know much about your CRT but if it is of high quality the Dell 2407 will not approcach the CRT in color accuracy. The reason for this is the technology of the LCD panel and its limited ability to be properly calibrated. I recently viewed the Gretag Macbeth color checker through a...

LCD's = incapable of color accuracy

I use my Gretag Macbeth color checked chart to really test and validate the color accuracy of these monitors. With LCD monitors it is never close to the color checker on a number of colors. I like to believe alot of the problem is the inability to really fine tune the look up tables in the...

    3007 HC makes noise!

The new NEC 2690 has this buzzing problem also. Some claim to have successfully returned their monitors as defective because of this. The buzzing is being attributed to a poor spec for the power supply. Both the Dell and NEC products are in excess of $1500 and should not have these problems.

This definitly can't be good for the future of SED

SED - When and how much?

Great point. Canon has minimal distribution through the Audio/Video Retailer distribution channel and no reputation in the cut throat display market. NEC LCD2690

I have seen the NEC 2690, Samsung XL20 and Samsung XL30. The XL20 has been on the market for a while now in Japan but seems not to have yet to have much traction in the US market. For the CAD work you mention the NEC 2690 is probably a better choice than the XL20. I find the LED display a bit...
