    SNMP from Com(munist)cast SMCD3G Business-class Cable Modem

Anyone happen to know offhand if there is any way to get SNMP info from one of these beasties? I'm currently running at home an SMCD3G DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem with their firmware implementation. From what I've scanned through Google, the original OEM firmware works fine for configuring SNMP to a...

    Critique ESXi Build

Well, depending on how much this system may grow, I would invest in adding as much memory as possible to it. My biggest issue with my setup is I only have 24 gigs of ram running 12+ virtuals. My specs follow: ASUS Z8NA-D6C Dual LGA 1366 Intel 5500 ATX Dual Intel Xeon 5500 and 5600 Series...

Thoughts, opinions on my new builds of P6T WS Pro Mobo's and Xeon 5570 Procs

Yea, I waffled some myself. Both boards came with the latest BIOS (v1205), but i guess the first board was made on a Tuesday, and the other by slackers on a Friday. It doesn't make sense that the same proc and memory on the same board delivers different results (I even pulled the proc ouf of the...

Thoughts, opinions on my new builds of P6T WS Pro Mobo's and Xeon 5570 Procs

No, these were my new purchases from NewEgg. I have one board up and running flawlessly with one Xeon 5570 proc. The other board I had to RMA back to the 'Egg, as after a week of burning it in, I was getting sporadic lockups and boot issues. Looking at the ratings on NewEgg, they're kinda all...

Thoughts, opinions on my new builds of P6T WS Pro Mobo's and Xeon 5570 Procs

Well, after several years running a Quad-core 2.4GHz 775 on an EVGA (love this board) 132-CK-NF78-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard, I have pulled the trigger and decided to upgrade. I came across a pair of Xeon 5570 LGA1366 procs (some moron got rid of a Dell T710 server...

    Weekend fun with vSphere 5 12/9/2011 - 12/11/2011

Is that a PERC card running your drives? What model is it? I have a PERC 6/i card I am looking at implementing into a new build, just need to find a mounting bracket for it.

    Automatic Restarts

Thats strange they would lock up your system after extended usage. Certain that you don't have a thermal issue with the system? I have a Linksys WRT310N router that would hard lock about once a month. Retrofitting an old CPU cooling fan and a resistor to it nipped that issue in the bud.

What's the most cost effective way to get Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate?

Production use as in a business? I am using my current TechNet subscription for what it was originally designed for. One of the reasons I had heard behind Microsoft changing the number of keys offered with the TechNet program was that individuals were selling their keys online and through other...

Anyone gaming on Windows XP x64?

Only problem I ever ran into with XPx64 was some apps/games saw it for what it truly was: a bastardized port directly from Windows Server 2003 x64. Sure, most stuff ran fine on it, but I had a few proggies that wouldn't because they identified it as a server OS.

What's the most cost effective way to get Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate?

Just remember, any OEM versions of Microsoft Operating systems are married to that motherboard you installed it onto. So if you go and upgrade a couple days/weeks/months/years later to a new mobo, they may not allow you to reactivate on the new hardware. I'd say your best bet is to get a Technet...

    Product keys stickers...

Wow! Nice find on this. Adding that link to my favorites. Also, anyone ever played around with replacing the default Windows Recovery Environment (winre.wim) with a custom-build winre.wim from a DaRT 6.5/7.0 bood cd? It works a helluva lot better than the default. Just make certain you have a...
