I could see this as useful on my second computer where there is no monitor hooked up. Would really need to be able to control fans. That machine is used as a home server/3d renders/udk. Wouldn't really spend that kind of money on it in that situation though.
Using it over the network would also...
You need to get better weapons as others have said. Hunter is pretty hard when you have a weak sniper and pistols.
Go rerun some of the "dungeons" and check the vendors items seem to change once a reload or so if I remember right.
Dont shy away from that awesome shotgun or smg either...
I recently got a pair of ATH-A700 to replace my broken hd555's. I liked them quite a bit better than the HD's. Headband was great and didnt slip and slide around and they had some bass. The problem is they would static shock my ears. So I sent them back.
Do you think the open air AD700 could...
I could use these as I sit right next to the laundry room. My hd555 are falling apart after many years of abuse, and they can't quite defeat the washer of doom.
ahh, good point. I was looking for leaks or a bad stick of ram.
I wasn't really focusing on the orginal poster. It was Mojo's post (#31) that got me started.
I'm still testing mobo/vid drivers. Don't think its going to help but its worth a try.
Its not a memory problem. It is a Valve problem. And its not just Nvidia users:

here is the problem with some ati cards
here is a list of all different systems/cards with the same problem link
Guess that means I don't have to search anymore.
thats some good info, but i've done that for years.
I sent the new card to a friend. Haven't really tested it yet. I'll post after I see what he has to say.
Could the people having problems post your GPU temps at idle and under load?
Here is mine. Used Rivatuner.
49c @ idle
60c after 1hr of cs:s
Also, does anyone know the first official driver version for the 6800gt?
I have tried disabling fastwrites as well. No go.
Been messing with some crazy configs for source, ones that drop textures and disables physics, etc.. I still have problems. Unless someone has something else to try, I'm done. I have tried everything I know. Maybe Nvidia or Valve will know...
vsync off or on, doesn't matter. Just means the fps drop is even bigger. My monitor is at 100hz in 1024x768.
I get the same problem in another computer as well.
P4 3.2E
Abit IC7-G
1gb cosair value ram
Leadtek 6800gt
200gb wd hdd
480w psu
winxp sp2
I have this same problem. Seems to have started sometime after March 31st (when I installed the new splinter cell). Before this, cs:s never dropped below 70-80fps ever.
I can change all the settings: res, af, aa, textures, shadows, etc... even force no aa/af in the nv control panel and with...
