    Soldering stations?

I have a WESD51. Being able to choose any temperature and have the iron there in a matter of seconds is unbeatable in my opinion. I also absolutely love the new style pencils although I prefer a sharper tip than the included one for doing a lot of things.

    Changing Capacitors.

Here's a good page to explain why you don't want to go switching the type of cap around: http://www.analog.com/library/analogDialogue/Anniversary/21.html Basically unless it's broken or known to be from a bad run and thus prone to breakage, I would not bother changing anything. If you do...

    LED flicker circuit?

Typically red, orange, yellow, and green LEDs draw around 20mA at 2V. While white and blue LEDs require 4 or 5V. Judging by the size of that IC and the fact that only a very small resistor is used in series to limit the current it probably puts out just enough current to power a single LED...

    Soldering Iron recommendation

Go for the Weller. It looks more durable and I know they're quality stuff because it's what we use in the lab I work in. As long as you take care of it and use it properly it will last for ages.

Hacker Super Bowl pits Mac OS vs. Linux, Vista

Well I'm in agreeance with HOCP4ME the Macs definitely are the most vulnerable to hacking but because of their limited popularity not much attention is spent on them. If another computer falls I think it will be Vista to go because Ubuntu 7.10 has been out for over 6 months now. By now all the...

Inspiron 1420 or Vostro 1400 which and why?

I ordered the Vostro 1500 over a similarily equipped Inspiron 2 weeks ago and it should be here tomorrow so I'll let you all know how it is. Main reason I got the Vostro is it had the option of Windows XP instead of Vista. Downside was that the biggest HD was a 160GB 5400RPM vs the 250GB 7200RPM...

    Change circuits in a house?

Haha all these seems like so much work. Just run an extension cord from your bedroom to your computer :D if you really wanted to get all fancy I was at the hardware store the other day and saw these neat flat extension cords designed to run under carpet. Simplest way to do it in my opinion and...
