Can't compete with that PPD, but I made it into the [H] top 10. On track for 1B point month with the extra push from the challenge.
Maybe we will move this summer and I'll install 20kw of solar. :D
I have two GPUs that I would consider full time (4090+4070). My dad nd sister don't leave their systems (which I maintain and upgrade) up 24x7. If I get all right WUs, I might just hit 50mppd output during that week.
Electricity is just too expensive to add any more at the moment.
I fully expect to drop out of the top 10 PPD when the competetion starts. Going to try and add a 4th 40x0 card when I rebuild my dad's computer next week.
I'd say go with 1-2 4070ti. Honestly that is what I would do over my current 4090 setup.
1x 4070ti is almost 2x the ppd of a 4070 for $200 more. 2x 4070ti is going to be 1.5x the ppd of a 4090 for the same price.
To me it's not worth the hassle of RMA and I wouldn't be surprised if a "new" card has the same issue because it seem to be firmware related (MSI x570). I'll wait it out and see if there are any vBIOS / SMBIOS udpates. In my case UEFI doesn't do much for me. I use a run of the mill Acer 4k60...
All of that and it's the latest MSI BIOS. My guess is that it's typical MSI quality.
I even pulled the CMOS battery and unplugged the PSU. I'm just going to leave it in CSM until Win 10 goes EOL and I have to upgrade motherboards.
Yes, I know there is a vBIOS udpate and it is applied to my 4090. I figured I'd ask anyways...
Anyone having issues with blank screens with UEFI turned on? Just some of the wackyness.
To get into the BIOS I'd have to boot into Windows and then restart.
The BIOS flash utility wouldn't display...
Took some troubleshooting and searching but it appears that the 4090 hates UEFI, at least on my MSI x570 Gaming Plus.
To get into the BIOS I'd have to boot into Windows and then restart.
The BIOS flash utility wouldn't display on screen.
Sometimes I'd lose signal when switching KVM sources...
It has a standard backplate. I reused the Zotac thermal pads used on the back of the memory. Everything runs about 15c cooler than stock.
I will use Gelid pads the next time I have to repaste it.
The specific block. Bykski Zotac 4090
It looks like my x570 Gaming Plus has weird issues with the 4090. I migh revist Linux after I am confident those issues are resolved or I buy a new mobo.
I used the QDC for the first time today. No leakage whatsoever. They were a bit sticky to get apart but that could be down to the fact that I have them crammed in there pretty tight. I would recommend them to anyone.
Power consumption seems "normal". What flavor of Linux are you using, I tried usuing the latest Ubuntu release (22.04.2) and the FAH control app doesn't respond. I have installed python but it seems the specific version that FAH control wants has been depricated.
I thought about going the VM route but I'm a bit lazy about that. I'll wait to see if the issue gets fixed.
The 4070 ti and 4090 have similar boost clocks. My 4090 is running >3Ghz
For sure some WU pay out more than others but I'd assume that a 4090 ( > 2x CUDA cores) would complete the same WU faster than a 4070 ti. In most cases it does. It seems the client needs to be updated to utilized the increased core counts / chip architecture.
Alz 18601 as an example.
I know...
Ineed, and it's not the only project where the 4070ti is beating the 4090 by a large margin. At first I thought it was just me but it seems there are oddities in general.
I ruled out a driver issue, I rolled back to 527.56, same issue. The PPD drop does not coincide with a windows udpate...
My Zotac 4090 with Bykski block running furmark. My GPU vs hotspot delta is 8c. I'm using one 420mm * 44mm EKWB radiator with fans / pump @ 40%. Coolant temp is ~11c above ambient. My clocks are just a tad higher but within margin of error.
Finally finished getting the 4090 under water. I went with the Bykski block for a few reasons.
EK kept delaying the Zotac 4090 block and I got tired of waiting.
The Bykski block is shorter than the EK block by ~1" , leaving a lot more room in a cramped case.
I don't care for RGB and removing...
I was curious so I fired up Furmark.
Zotac 4090 / 5800x / water loop
600w from the wall. This is not typical or real world. Running games or F@H pulls down 450ish for me. Absolutely no worries on my Seasonic 850 focus platinum.
