All of my early ending units have been from either switching between the linux/windows client... always seems it ends up getting a new WU when I do that. Also from rebooting n stuff.
You, sir, have a problem! I wish I had that kinda cash to be buying up these things left and right.
Keep up the good work, it's inspiration for us all! :)
Nah, me and PenguinComp both have the same setups, basically. He has 2 of them however. The LV Xeons are low heat/voltage (like a mobile XP or a64) meant for Rackmount systems. Just put them in a regular case, do a slight mod to get them to normal Xeon voltage (1.55vcore) and up the FSB til it...
Well the Xeons are up. So far, running @ 3.1ghz each
Soooooo...
18880 - 2200 = 16680
If I pump them up further, to 3.2 or 3.3ghz I'll come back to update. :)
I got almost 4 ghz of overclocking, possibly more.
2x 2ghz lv xeons
1x a64 3500
1x axp-m 2500
1x xp 1700
worst overclocker of the lot is the 3500, at a measly 466mhz. xp-m will do about 700mhz above stock, and xp 1700 will do about the same, 650 or so. Xeons should hit 3ghz each at...
Dual Xeons: $159
Intel Windtunnel HSFs: $25
Asus PC-DL: $179
Praetorian: $108
Enermax 550w PSU: $123
RAM: $free. I had it already, but it retails about $135 now.
Slap in any HDDs / Graphics card and you're set.
This was my weekend project... but not all the parts are here yet. Penguin is shipping me some Intel Windtunnels tomorrow, and the Enermax 550w EPS12v PSU will be here tomorrow.
Unfortunately, I'll be on my way to Pennsylvania for a funeral. :(
Anyway, here's what I have been up to...
I just put together a Duallie Xeon for pretty cheap...
Anyways, s939 has the Venice cores, pre-order only atm. Should be better overclockers than the Winchesters.
I got my praetorian early. Upon checking it out I noticed a few things that I like better about my PC-60.
The motherboard tray on the Praetorian is nice and thick, better standoffs than the PC-60, but the darn thing doesn't slide in and out smooth at all, it's ALWAYS catching on something...
I imagine there are lemons in the lot for sure, but the Fortron relabelled Sparkles (The ones with FSP in the part number) are nice PSUs in general. I have a 250w here powering an xp2500 w/ 768mb ram, 2 hdds, cd-burner, 3 fans and (until recently) a ti4200. Even overclocked it runs like a champ.
Cooler Master Praetorian $108. I bought one of these in black (gets here monday). I think it will compliment my Lian-Li PC-60 pretty well. The Lian-Li is the Gaming box and the Praetorian will house the Dual Xeon Server box. I love the quality of my PC-60, and would buy another Lian-Li in a...
I think that would apply in the case of a shared server, but as in my case, I rent the whole server. The only limitations they put on me are NO mp3s and NO connections to the IRC network. Otherwise, I can do as I please. Hell if I want to shut my box down, they don't care as long as they get...
Yea my webserver in an unnamed datacenter folds 100%. Basically the deal is you can't slow someone elses server down with your folding. In other words, it is AOK. (At least with my server host)
#4 nozzle. IIRC my cooling was better before the switch to Clearflex. I attribute the difference to changing the fan setup. I had them pulling air through the rad, but on the suggestion of a few, switched it to pushing. I didn't record the temps @ 2.66ghz before, so I don't know for sure which...
My three rigs here, and one in a datacenter are folding 100%. Wish I had my Xeon rig going, it looks like it will make my average PPD go up to twice what it is now. :)
The leaks I had originally showed up within the first hour. After they were identified and remedied, I had no problems running the comp for about 2 weeks straight. When I changed out the tubing for Clearflex60, the fill/bleed cycle was a lot longer because I did it with the system IN the case...
While this is correct, it is also wrong. Even if all the 2Ghz chips can't do 20x200, even for that split second, Clockgen DOES work with this board, so if you can't get your chips doing 200mhz with the bios, you can bump them up afterwards. Since the box will be basically a dedicated folder...
He had 4 at the time me and Penquincomp ordered and I watched 3 go through his hands before that. I imagine he has plenty more. :)
In fact, here's the other two of the ones he has had since me and Penguincomp ordered...
I have a gig of the memory linked by the poster before me. I paid $212 for it when I purchased it. I would buy it again @ $160 no prob. Mine turned out to NOT be good overclocking memory, I think the max FSB was 223 or so... but that was great in the times of the XP1700 which I bought at the...
