somewhere in those threads was a reference to official MSI site to retrofit boards that don't work, sending them back to MSi. This suggests the sound can be made to work without -5V and that perhaps newer boards don't require it. I tried to register for it, but you had to have bought a K8N...
Success. NVIDIA LAN is now working. I did install drivers, which fixed the NVIDIA LAN problem. Turns out the NVIDIA LAN (not the Marvell LAN) drivers are not certified by Microsoft which is why Win x64 didn't install them.
Installing the beta version drivers from Nvidia site installed the...
Thanks. I've discovered it makes a big difference that I'm running Windows 64 operating system, so I'm into 64 bit driver availability problems. I already noticed that win64 can't install my generic intel modem due to no drivers, at least on the win64 cd rom.
On the bios, I did some further...
My newly assembled 3700 San Diego system & Windows 64 is working except for the on board Nvidia LAN. The other Marvell LAN next to the audio ports works fine, but when I unplug it and plug it into the Nvidia LAN next to the parallel port, although the green light comes on, I can't connect to...
This is the first system I've built, and until I had to insert the motherboard into the case, I never really looked very closely at the backplates of my previous computers to ever notice.
They aren't designed to break off, and the fact that they angle in so they come in contact with ports...
For my MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI, I had to use the backplate that came with the mobo. I can't figure out what all those thin little finger prongs angling inward toward the mobo ports are used for.
Are these grounding pins? Are they supposed to be bent soas to touch with pressure up against...
I came within a whisker of ordering a non-returnable 3700 Venice, a MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI mobo together with an upgraded Power Supply the Antec TP2-550 EPS12V. This has dual 2x24pin 12V 19A rails and is touted as the new V2.0 ATX12v power supply for high performance SLI systems. By accident...
When you say they upgraded the 1080 case w/430 PS to 26A 12V, are you saying they've redesigned the PS or just changed the markings from 20A to 26A with essentially the same PS. The 430 that came with my case says 20A, has the SATA connectors, but their web site says 26A, so I don't know if the...
My Antec 430 came in a 1080 case about 9 mos. ago. It says 20A 12V on sticker, but it has SATA connectors. I've written to Antec to find out the story, as seems like a big jump to go to 26A in any kind of revision and still retain the same settings on all the other rails and still call it 430W...
