For all intents and purposes, the Toshiba's are basically rebadged HGST (Hitachi) drives. Both should work great for what you need and you can go with whichever ones you can get cheaper.
Send the seller a question via ebay and ask for a shipping quote. I did and they dropped it from 430 to 150 to Alberta Canada. Likely you would have a similar experience.
Note that you will still get dinged import duties and taxes (budget ~200-300ish for this)
I noticed your second blog post and it mentions that in order to recover a file you would need to resilver / recover (or whatever the proper terminology is with this new raid method) the entire disk in order to recover the damaged data? Does this apply if your reading a file and your hard drive...
