Gears of War: E-Day

Yeah but a character showed a picture of her with another lady for literally 3 seconds out of a 14 hour campaign how am I supposed to cope with this

I've been tweeting Potus for days to help
Ahh yes the appeal to triviality argument.

People are so sick of this crap that it could be 30 seconds, three minutes, or three hours and it wouldn't matter. People are tired of the pandering, tired of the fridge shaped women, soy boy beta male characters, hideous character designs and alphabet mafia crap being included in every fucking game, movie and TV show. Making matters worse is the ham-fisted and inorganic ways they often do it.

Why people shitting on this game. I played through first 3 chapters and it is great. The atmosphere and gameplay is as good as any gears.

Because no amount of great gameplay will surmount the feeling of being preached this religion to by the ideologically captured leftists that made the game. The feeling has accumulated over years of trying to enjoy the majority of western shows, movies, and games and it's impossible to ignore. Esp. when it's so forced and fake feeling like it is here where absolutely nobody likes this character cosplaying as a male soldier with no real character flaws while also being physically disabled and is only able to insult everyone else and never receiving any back.

If you agree with it or can just ignore it, that's fine. But this stuff has came to a point where at least half of the general public and audience agree with me and you can clearly see that born out in this thread as well.

Someone explain the logic behind the butch lesbian character given...

She gets her squad killed and is dishonorably discharged.

Invasion happens and she gets back and is put in charge of war heroes who she then talks down to?

I lost all interest at that point, that is straight up shit writing.

Good thing I am in it for the shootbang.
As are we, just without "the message".

It seems the game barely broke a quarter mil in sales yesterday. So prolly no more shootbang from the Coalition anymore after this, lol. Halo CE remake made way more than that at launch (while also being a day one Gamepass game) after spending a quarter of the budget of E-Day and Halo studios got folded up immediately. 😆

Funny that Oblivion Remake and Claire Obscure had no issues selling millions of copies at launch despite being day one Gamepass games as well. So I don't think that cope excuse works here as well as many would like.

The game clearly has decent gameplay and reviewed well among all critics. So this is clearly people rejecting their "message" here. As was the same story for Gears 5 and many other recent western games.

Some people never learn. Gaming is not Netflix.

Having said that I am just not bothered anymore by this stuff.

Played on Xbox pass, graphics is super nice, gameplay and story very simplistic and kinda dumb. Stopped playing as it was just boring. What a waste of technical expertise. Playing it felt like that this game was designed for consoles first in terms of controls.

To be fair, the original was a console port as well.

Cause it was as with all the GoW games?

Pretty sure I played the first 3 while I was on an exercise bike since the cover system made the game really easy.

It's on Gamepass, so I'm giving it a shot. I liked the other ones. With all the chatter about them using new tech to reduce stuttering, I'm seeing way more in this game than I planned. Traversal pauses, jitters in new areas, etc. In once instance, the game full-on paused for like 5 seconds like my system was locked. The lighting effects are neat, but I can't really enjoy them at this rate. Tried every trick in the book, but nothing seems to fix it, even if I'm averaging 90+ fps. I appreciate that every single gunfight is designed to be more intense, though. Random grubs feel tough again.

no one is making that argument...that's the argument you have created in your head to justify your narrative...I'm saying that it doesn't matter if the females in the game are hot or not hot...I'm playing for the gameplay and not for the titillation...it's up to the developer to make the game they want to make...the female characters need to fit the setting...sometimes they need to be more gruff...having the Stellar Blade character model in SW Outlaws would make no sense
How come all the games you promote are comercial failures?

He can't understand that the visual presentation and characterization matters. Annoying and hideous characters detract from the overall experience. Sure, gameplay is king but these woke, leftist, identity politics infested, bloated budget slop titles generally only manage to offer mediocre gameplay to begin with. He doesn't understand that compelling characters, story, and other facets of the overall experience have to measure up as well.

Games are a total package. If the game fails in one or more areas, it often fails commercially. Look at Assassin's Creed Shadows. It was an expensive, buggy mess with a bad overall narrative, poor characters, NPC's using text to speech or horrible voice actors, and questionable gameplay mechanics. An Assassin's Creed game set in Japan should have made it the most commercially successful game in the franchise's history, but instead its the lowest performer in the franchise's history. (That's another game he defends saying that only gameplay matters.) There are arguments to be made that the game fails on that end too, but he can't acknowledge that either.

Elden Ring was a failure?...that's one of my favorite games of all time...my favorite developer is From Software...all the other games I don't promote, I just stand up for common sense...the incel crowd is not the majority, they are a very small minority who are loud on forums making them appear to be bigger than they are...jerking off to video game character models or hoping they are all super hot is incel behavior (of course incels never admit to being incels)

whether games fail or not is not something I lose sleep over...lots of games are successful despite any inclusion of DEI etc yet you never mention those (Forbidden West, Last of Us 2 etc)...of course the goalposts change when they are successful and it then becomes about whether it was more successful than the previous game in the series or more successful then another game etc

Does it use UE5.8? I've read it uses 5.6, but some places say. 5.8 came out in June, so I am kind of doubting they are on the latest build. They recommend turning the settings down from the highest as the highest settings are meant for future hardware, I believe those are called Ludicrous.

TechpowerUp review seems to say there is little to no traversal stutter. It does use a lot of VRAM but I don't think that would be an issue for a 4090.

I'd like to try this one out myself. Graphically it looks good, but curious to see how it runs for myself.

I'll give it a shot with everything turned off of Ludicrous. I'm pulling massive FPS, but stutters, hitches, and pauses are driving me nuts. There's an in-game benchmark, but it's basically worthless since it's almost entirely a single static battle scene with no panning around or movement.

A broken clock is right twice a day,
A single game dosn't change my question.

How come all the games (minus 1) you prmote are commercail failures?

I already answered your question...you're new to these forums so go look back at all the games I've played and loved- Rocksteady Arkham games, Tomb Raider reboot and Rise of the Tomb Raider, Sekiro/Dark Souls/Bloodborne, DisHonored 2, Deathloop, Doom/Eternal etc

But that is not where most of your posting are.
I have larned to to trust what people say online, but watch what they do.

You are defecting really badly now, so I will pin it even further down:
How come all the games( minus 1) you promote and spend the most time defending are comercial failures?

Will I get an honest answer now or more deflecting?

again...I don't think you know what the word promote means...I gave you a small list of games I played and loved and posted about...you don't seem to know how to do a search and find those posts...when people lose an argument they pretend like they don't know what the other person is saying...you're new here so I'll give you a pass

more and more games are becoming what you hate...if developers thought that they mattered then they would obviously not do it anymore...but this is the new normal and will be for the foreseeable future...so you can adapt or stop gaming

Over the last 10 pages of your posting history:

Marvel's Wolverine (Insomniac Games): 25 posts
Gears of War: E-Day: 17 posts

vs. the game you claim to love more than any other game:

Elden Ring (From Software RPG): 5 posts

You do know you posting history is public right?

I'm beginning to think you really don't know how to search...I have over 400 posts in the Elden Ring thread...the last 10 pages of my posting history is just the most recent posts, not total posts

This is absolutely hilarious coming from you. You do this all the time.

The western gaming industry is full of wokeness. It will take years to purge the rot. With long development cycles on games, bloated budgets and massive teams that are all HR nightmares, this isn't going away anytime soon. But to say more and more games are headed this way is inaccurate. Studios like Ubisoft, EA and others are feeling the pain of financial failure as their overbudget slop commercially fails time after time. This bullshit will stop, it's just a matter of time. In the meantime, Eastern studios are taking up the slack and finding increasing success in the west. They are making games with fewer bugs, with better game design, no woke trash and doing it for half the price in half the time. The western studios are rotting away from the cancer, forcibly injected into them by Black Rock and other investment groups.

Even though Black Rock has even backed off on its stance, the damage it caused in the industry will persist for years until the studios either cull the idiots from their ranks or shutter their doors in abject failure. We saw something similar in the 1970's when American car quality fell through the floor. Japanese and other foreign automakers offered what American car companies couldn't or wouldn't give them. Studios in the east will do what western developers are failing to do.

I'd like to try this one out myself. Graphically it looks good, but curious to see how it runs for myself.

After playing around with the various settings, it seems like the culprit for just about all of my issues is one item: "RTX Mega Geometry"
Lots of settings affect FPS here and there, but that one setting introduces hitching, pausing, etc. Disabling it more or less smooths everything out. There are occasional millisecond blips for checkpoints and such, but nothing that wasn't in the other titles. I turned that off and a couple lighting/shadow items down to ultra (from Ludicrous) and I'm now over 100fps with no issues.

lol ya dont say. have you seen the vids showing the difference between reg and mega? its like comparing n64 polygons to ps5...

Yesterday is first I've ever heard of it. On my setup (7950X3D/4090) it doesn't really do much to my FPS, but it turns a pretty smooth experience into the first time you're playing a new level in Wukong. It's bad enough where it feels bugged, and lowering the other settings barely seems to matter as long as it's on.

That is good to know. I'll probably check this out eventually. This is one of those games where I am more interested in the tech/graphics than the game.
