What should I play?

Temps are dropping. Outside activities are slowing down. I’ve decided to dedicate a small amount of time to games again. I’m still running an HP Z2 G4 SFF with an I5 8600, RTX 4060 and 16gb of ram. Obviously not the fastest but no slouch either

I just finished up my play through of the original RDR.

I can replay RDR2, GTA 4 or 5. Any of the Watchdogs, pick up where I left off in Sleeping Dogs. Any of the Mafia games
Except old countryor get The Sabateur or change directions from open world entirely… I also have Hogwarts Legacy and Avatar.

I also used to really like Bioshock style FPS, though my preference for years has been open world. What should I do?

The eternal question...
- I usually go by play order vs release dates...

FINISH or restart - Sleeping Dogs - DO IT!
FINISH Mafia 1-2 Remastered & then 3 & if I had the money, I'd play 4 (Old Country)!
Avatar Frontiers of Pandora was great.

Since we both like the above titles - maybe try:
Assassins Creed Odyssey & Black Flag (I am currently doing AC II)
Any & all SPIDER-MAN & TOMB RAIDERS & BATMAN.
FAR CRY 1 then 3~6 - skip 2 unless you like hard mods
Wolfenstein(s) - take your pick...
Witcher 2 & 3
Skyrim

That's enough for now.

I agree with some of the usa all day suggestions.

Just my own thing recently I played black myth wukong and lords of the fallen , but those aren't open world. Elden ring and the DLC are open world. I loved those but are heavy into the rpg flavor like witcher, yet with barely any story as compared to witcher 3 so not really like it other than the genre/settings. Witcher 3 is more d&d, eldern ring is more lovecraftian almost, but they both have horror in the games. I haven't downloaded witcher 3 remaster yet but I own the original so I will eventually. I played some assassin's creed odyssey for story gaming and that it has great HDR/graphics, and I ran through a lot of titanquest 2 for being a loot goblin and character optimizer.. TQ2 was ok for awhile just building a character but it got stale closer to the end.

Speaking of goblins, just yesterday decided to look up every core mod for Styx (1), those being the worthwhile graphics and gameplay enhancements, and ini edits, etc which make it look and play a lot more like a modern game - because I'm thinking of playing through all of the Styx games since the new one is out now. I always liked the old "thief" stealth games, and I really liked dishonored 1 and 2, which are sort of the same genre.

If you like the story aspect of witcher3 and aren't averse to RPG mechanics "science", (or playing a game where the combat shifts to turn based mode, at least as i chose to play it) - if you haven't played Balder's Gate 3 I'd highly recommend it, it's a fun story and it can play out a lot of different ways.

I like a bunch of different game styles. When I was younger I played more gun based shooter games, but I typically like more occult /magic and monster based stuff. If you want to play a mix of both (guns and occult magic&monsters), a lot of people seem to like the game "Witchfire" (early access). Steam link here. Positive reviews almost 16,000, negative ones ~ 1,600, mostly commonly performance complaints with some setups I think. Might be able to catch it on sale at some point, but it's $40 at the moment for an early access game, so take it as you will. It's been at $32 before (and I guess if you are into cdkeys sites type stuff it can go $17 - $25).

Stalker 2

Would recommend Borderlands 4 but not on your current rid might lag plus it's kinda grindy.

I forget why I stopped playing Sleeping Dogs. I remember liking it but I got to a point where I struggled I think. I’ve had it a long time.

I forget I still have Mad Max I can finish, but I got bored with that grind. I’m over half way through that one if I pick up off my old save. Problem is my back log is huge. Cyberpunk I actually have and played a bit but an update that I didn’t have space for and I just stopped playing. I just recovered my Ubisoft and GOG accounts. Have not logged to either in years. I have way to many choices and most of them are games I just don’t think I’d chose.

If you were to replay RDR2 I highly suggest modding it.

I just finished the epilogue and have a lot of content remaining still with various side quests, challenges, and exploring more of the map.

Here is the mod list I am running and I have optimized it in terms of load orders using Lennys Mod Loader.

The game plays and looks absolutely fantastic and is running well. I used AI to help me troubleshoot a few issues i had at the beginning and its been stable since. There is probably another 20-30hrs of gameplay left with stuff I didnt finish.

like this
Styx, Witchfire
Both look awesome, I have both Styx games in my backlog & added Witchfire to the wishlist. Balder's Gate 3 was mind-blowing for me.

Like elvn said, I used to play a lot of 60% shooter games & 40% racing games & eventually RPG's & Super Hero / Tomb Raider adventure(?) games.

I got an Uncharted bundle too & really liked that (story adventure like Tomb Raider).

Since you liked Sleeping Dogs, you might like Shadow Warrior too (action with a sense of humor).

Yakuka 0 (Zero) was a lot of fun, but 100% subtitles was not, but I still bought most of the series from steam sale (except most recent pricey ones).

Just Cause 3 was a "BLAST" with cheats! Cheap bundles on steam sales too.

I was shocked that I liked golf games & Fishing Planet & the Hunter: Call of the Wild!

So many more - gaming is great - I am in a motivational slump and buried in non gaming projects.
