The vibe-coded Adobe application clones. Pretty impressive

Like most of these, it wont run, work, or actually do anything it claims, the same as the person who claimed to write Claude with only like 150 lines or code or something, while the actual app has 5k+..

You mean 150k lines of code, where the actual app has 5 million.

150 lines of code, I don't care what language you write it in, would barely do anything. There are more than 150 commands in the Photoshop Menu alone.

*EDIT*

Also, even if it works 100% the same, we already have laws on the book that this would violate copyright. It's not as if they're stating they're making a program to compete against Photoshop. They've literally stated they're making an AI created Photoshop that's free. It doesn't even matter if there is 0% of Adobe's code in it. They basically admitted to violating a copyright and it wouldn't even make trial, as it would be a super an open and shut case to prosecute.

Explain libreoffice then. It has been tested in court.

I strongly suspect you are right. (I really respect your posts overall. You are one smart dude.) But how do you know?
It was a post on LinkedIn where someone was talking about it, as corrected above (150 lines..lol, silly Guv), same story as the Claude Code person who claimed they AI vibe coded a version, but it didnt even function in the most basic levels.

now if they can do it great, and it works, great, sure Affinity would love to hire this person.

Consider this, it took someone for LLM's to be released to make a copy of Adobe....why could it not be done before.. We know the level of vibe coded slop being passed as a final product these days.

Ignoring products that imitate Adobe too closely, can vibe coded photo editors offer something the market does not currently offer?

If the person/people put in the time to define the prompts.

Most software is derivative in some form or another. I've done my fair share of reverse engineering and decompiling. I've been on a couple forums and subs on reddit where people are talking about how they found bugs to correct. The thing here is, these bugs were already documented and fixed previously, because someone previously had put in the work to get that done. But bugs that have never been documented, the AI still misses.

But remember, it's not just someone documented this bug or this feature here in this specific piece of hardware. It's pretty much any software whatsoever online. For example, let's take John Carmack and Commander Keen, often one of the first smooth scrolling games on the PC. John Romero brings up in his Memoire, Doom: Life in First Person, that Carmack actually found the necessary algorithm and information for smooth scrolling from a book on creating Word Processing programs. Intel added the necessary features to their CPU because influential companies who made business software wanted to add in features for creating smooth scrolling documents and spread sheets.

If you want to add a feature, and it exists somewhere, it can be added if you describe it well enough. If you're asking for something that is possible, but the LLM isn't trained on, then it will fail to add it in spectacular fashion. That's where you'd have to either add that in yourself, or give more prompts describing how to accomplish the feature.

If you don't want to bring your muscle memory from Photoshop you can always use GIMP.

It is indeed the look and feel that is important here. It is very hard to change photo editors once you are tuned for one.

Myself I am GIMPed and cannot get used to PS workflow.

I've been using Gimp over PS for a good decade and still hate it. I've been using Darktable vs lightroom for about as long, still hate it. But it is what it is. I won't give adobe any more $.
