I have a launch model of this card with the SK Hynix memory so the memory runs hot! Even with undervolting and custom fan curve for the vid and a 011 Dynamic XL packed with fans maxed out sometimes the memory will get past 89°C and the driver will crash out. I added thermal pads to the backplate which helped but is not enough. I want to replace the thermal pads on the memory but for the life of me I can't find the pad thickness to order? Any help would be great thx!

It's best to test it, but it's typically 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, and up to 2.5mm. I used to use Arctic TP-3, but TP-4 is now available. You can stack up to 2mm (1mm + 1mm), but I've stacked up to 2.5mm without issues.

Best way to test it is to lay 1mm, and put a thin layer of TIM on them. Put the heatsink on, and if the TIM gets on the heatsink, then 1mm spots are good. If not, add another 1mm and put another thin layer of TIM. If it's still not good, it's typically going to be 2.5mm at most.

I highly suggest putty for this, it makes your life so much easier and works better. I used TG putty on my 4090 and it worked amazingly, dropped vram temps 25C. Follow the instruction to apply it though, I had to refrigerate mine for a few hours first. It has the added bonus of never causing components to separate from the board due to strain from the pads being harder than the original ones.

Keep us posted on your choice of tim and the results please. I'm hitting 88C on my 9070/hynix memory with no driver crash but I don't wanna cook the memory either.

Another option or additional cooling, install heat sinks onto the back plate. If more cooling is desired, a fan hooked up to the motherboard where you can control the speed.
