The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt: Official Thread

Found a small glitch. Game told me I had XP to use, I used the points but the reminder keeps coming back with no available points.

Heads up, I've read some reports that the game is pulling almost 600w on a 5090. Folks with those cards should keep an eye on it given the power cable stuff.

Getting 420W in Novigrad 4K max settings including PT. DLSS RR 4.5 Performance (Preset F), Dynamic MFG (Preset B).

5090 is undervolted and it has a WireView II Pro.

Game seem pretty glitchy on PS5. I been getting crashes and my save file got corrupted.

Edit:
Played about 7 hour today and it has crashed 5 times. It was fine before the patch yesterday.

I don't know all the details of what was changed, but combat feels a lot worse now. I thought they were supposed to have improved it.

As I've said in other threads: Undervolt. UR. GPU. This reddit post is a good one to follow. Concerns about burning cables aside, it really does get you the same performance for less wattage when it works, and from the sounds of it, it nearly always does. It doesn't actually cap things like a power limit, you can still go to the full 600w under the right kind of load. When I run Furmark it'll still max out. However in games you are usually looking at 470w-ish max. That's less heat, less power usage, less fan noise, and of course a lot less connector heat since it is a non-linear relationship with amperage.

Hell I'd do undervolts on other cards too, just to save power and heat.

Quick test on my card, undervolted, of the first area (I've never played it, sue me) with RT maxed, PT off, getting 82fps I'm seeing about 410w power draw. Flip on PT, we are down to 58-60fps, and up to 500-510w, which is more than I've seen any other game draw. Still works out to less than 7a per pin though (I have a PSU with per pin monitoring). Flip off both PT and RT back to pure raster and still about 440w, but now 180fps. DLSS balanced using ray reconstruction when RT is on, 4k output.

While this is by no means a complete test ya, seems like something about the PT hits extra hard in this game. Personally I think I'll leave it off as it seems to look better with just RT rather than PT, though maybe they improve that later. Either way: With an undervolt, it seems to be doing just fine. It's worth doing. If it doesn't work on your card, that does suck, but it won't hurt to try and it really does sound like almost all 5090s work fine with the undervolt listed in the Reddit post. That's what I'm using. You can try more aggressive, some people do and succeed at getting even lower power draw, others fail but then you just drop back. You can also use it to OC but seriously, do you NEED to OC a 5090?

Testing in Cyberpunk, which I have a longer run of data that I logged and crunched the numbers on, average per-pin draw was around 6a, as opposed to more like 8.1a+ in Furmark. That actually works out to about half the dissipated heat on the connector since it heat rises with the square of current. Seems like a worthwhile safety margin to me for something that, as far as I can measure, didn't limit my performance at all.
