On Android how to get app links to open in default browser?

Curious, I'm on a Pixel 11 Pro Max, and I use Facebook and Threads apps, and every time I click a link for an article or something, it sends me to a weird browser that's not my default Brave Browser or Samsung Browser, but some internal browser built into these apps.

I go the Settings in these Apps, and enable and click the box in the settings menu that states "Links Open Externally - Open links in default browser" toggle it on. I do that.

Yet links I click never open into Brave, they still open in the odd app browser.

Any tips to fix this, or something I'm doing wrong here?

I do have my settings set to open in default browser, yet it doesn't work for some reason?

Facebook and Threads apps,

Having worked there, I expect a certain quality from their apps....

Try unchecking the box, save, force quit, check the box, save, force quit. See if it helps.

I try not to use facebook on my phone, but when I do, I use the mobile website (m.facebook.com) cause it means I didn't install their app (although I do unfortunately have fb messenger...)

Same thing with the Threads app, I changed all the settings to allow the default browser to open up and it just doesn't. It always goes to the in-app stupid browser instead.

I did change those same settings in Reddit and it works as I need it to. When I click a link, it opens up in my Brave browser.
