Suppose you are doing some case modification, and your original case top and rear doesn't c/w any filter:

So I go thru some top designer house, such as Fractal Design, Cooler Master, etc.. There are just a few things I really like to get to the bottom. Knowing that heat rises, as such most of us should use rear and top fan as exhaust fan.

1) Should the tiny individual mesh hole diameter of Rear dust filter be the same size as the top dust filter?

Here's Define 7:

https://www.fractal-design.com/products/cases/define-series/define-7/black/

you can see the rear exhaust filter hole is quite big, easily 5mm or more, so is the top

https://www.quietpc.com/fd-define7-compact-black

although at the top, they seem to have some magnetic filter as an option

2) needless to say, if the hole is small, then it blocks the hot air from venting out

at Cooler master, they have this, in which the rear and top mesh hole diameter seems to be gigantic, probably at least 7 to 9 mm in width, using hexagon hole

https://www.coolermaster.com/en-global/products/cosmos-c700m.html

for those who does case modification, what are the guideline to the diameter of these individual mesh hole size?

you are right, I don't need to. A part of it is for protection, in case something tangle in the blade. But you can see all the manufacturer have their metal filter in place as well

theres already metal mesh in the case to prevent "danglers" from getting in the blades. if youre cutting new holes, ^^^

most of the time I cut the grate/mesh pattern away (to restrictive) and use fan grills, more air flow.

okay, thank everyone, I make a mistake 5 yr. ago. I use a very tight nylon mesh filter on the old PC. When I build the new PC, I already notice the mesh filter blocks some part of the air to exhaust it out. I'll buy 2 more hexagon plastic filter. The google AI search engine said hexagon shape filter, just like what you saw above from that coolermaster case, said "Hexagon-shaped filter holes (honeycomb or hex mesh patterns) provide maximum open area for airflow and fluid throughput while maintaining high structural strength

so I'll order 2 more

Edit: looks good eh?

idk my zalman raven tempered glass didn't come with the screens or retainers..so any standard size works. if you have room that is. i have rear room probaly but if i put front mounted aio no i don't probably have room and something custom. I honestly don't know what i want do with it. already doing custom stuff.
