I got these to try out. We'll see how they do in 2026 with the RAMpocalypse, as I still have a few LGA2011 motherboards and lots of DDR3 memory. Unfortunately, I don't have a dual CPU LGA2011 motherboard, but that's okay since I wanted to overclock these, anyway. Twice the amount of cores and threads as the i7-3930K I used to rock at 4.6GHz 24/7. I'd be happy if they could get to 4.6Ghz 24/7 as well. They might be power hogs, though. We'll just have to see. It'll be a while until I get these setup, but it's my next main project after my current main project.

I assume you're going to do just the bclk strap change? I don't think there's any other way to OC the v2 2600s, assuming that even works. I'll be following to see if it does, though. I have a pair of 97s (in a dead SM board) and two x79s with well OCd 3930s.

Yeah, you need an i7 or a 1600 Xeon (single socket only) to do a multiplier OC on X79. Xeon 1680v2 is kinda the ultimate OC chip for that platform. 8 cores & you can use the multiplier. X79 boards can run 2600 series dual capable Xeons, but those are multiplier locked. Alas, 1600 only goes up to 8 cores. E5-2697v2 has 12. The top i7 is the 4960X, but that's only 6 cores with a 4GHz max boost... overclockable of course. Been a few years since I looked but used Xeons tended to be cheaper last time I did.
