World of Warcraft Forever

The limitations at lower levels is more to force new people to learn how to use skills correctly, rather than be overwhelmed by lots of options.
Imo it's also about the natural progression of a character. You're going to start out as a noob, waxing on and waxing off before you are taught how to even punch or kick, and way before you ever get involved in an interesting story that tests your might.

It's weird seeing Zack play WoW again. I just deleted my Battle.net account because I realized what a freaking time sink this game is after playing the last couple of weeks.

Also not a simp or one with tons of free time and unfortunately can’t seem to get a beta key anywhere. Any chance anyone has one they aren’t using? I want to test it out before launch if I can, and I don’t want to pay the $60 to “try” the beta. Figured I’d ask but I doubt this will work. Just pm if you have a lead.

I can't even believe I'm saying it, but the Olympus saga has me actually running the logistics in my head of playing on full release. Never in 20+ years did I think I would have anything more than pure disinterest in WoW, but the romp looks like a kind of unbridled fun that recalls a sort of lost magic in gaming.

Thousands of players fomo onto a boat with no idea where it goes only to end up zoning into the opposing faction's territory, causing a faction battle.
Thousands of level 20s retard-swarm an endgame area, obviously wiping but still killing the named mob and physically making it to the end of the area, capped off by jumping to their deaths unintentionally.

No hyper fixation on being stat-perfect or any of the tendrils that MMOs tend to grab you with. Just fun exploring and messing around with others who want to do the same. Nothing gained except a player's high and the memory of possibly being part of some record in gaming history.

The word unprecedented may be appropriate here. This is the type of thing that gaming news sites would joyously write on a couple of decades ago, holding it as a beacon to show the joys of the hobby, or a testament of how complete strangers can be brought together over a shared passion, or a landmark of what a bunch of dorks can accomplish. Up there with the first time someone finished Half-Life in under an hour, or when a few hundred players spanning multiple guilds coordinated to kill the Sleeper in Everquest 1, or when one of the huge Corp leaders in Eve Online got ambushed and wiped out.

Never seen anything like this.

They were giving away beta keys at McDonald’s in my country. I was about to grab one from the app for you but they’ve run out of keys. :(

They did write about it back then, it was called Goon Squad

Had to look the term up, but yeah, that is what I was referencing. I only know of that event because it was covered back then.

Was that the same goon squad that wiped the memorial in winterspring for that chick who died irl?

Blizzard should give Asmongold and his followers their own server and just let them all stroke each other off in peace, away from civilized society.

There should be a flag in the realm list when any streamer is in it so we can avoid it.

Even before streamers there were guilds like Olympus. Not with the coordination they have now of course, but a catch all mega guild for the guildless. On my server back in the day it was the guild EPIC.
