World of Warcraft Forever

I've always been able to avoid the streamer server. Not anymore I suppose! Wonder what effect that'll have on the game.

Also, a buddy of mine said that blizzard actually vowed to end bitting for the sake of the economy? If that's true that's the biggest news yet lol

Exactly.

You still need to have your defensive cooldowns ready and a few other spells that SBA doesn't use, but overall I think it makes the game play a little more streamlined and not having to have a dozen plus different keys to press, now I just need to press like 2 to 4 keys mostly as opposed to 8 or so.
What's really annoying about some classes is they have like 2-3 times as many spells as there are paces on the main action bar. And I hate having to have my entire bar be macro'd actions to perform a normal rotation. I've been playing Midnight for a bit and really enjoying Ret Paladin. I'm sure SBA will help with that, but I hate the idea of it. SBA also has an added 25% slower global cooldown, so you won't get maximum dps with it. Actually now that I think about it, it's a great idea for people who are impaired and want to play with their friends.

There should be a streamer free server option lol.
I do find it extremely annoying. I got paired up one time with someone that was streaming one time and I could not have been more annoyed. He was speed running as a tank, and he was very bad at it.

Couple good Reddit comments, I 100% agree;

How many times can they put out the same game with a new coat of paint? My goodness. Give us an actual true next gen, all new WoW 2 already.

I've always known that there is an audience for classic but I'm still amazed that Blizzard not only did classic but are now doing classic+. This is genuinely insane, where's the fresh brand new content moving forward with all new original stuff?

And not just retail Midnight type new stuff, but a new next gen game engine, and new classes and races and character models set in a whole new game world and new lore, etc...

Damn, I wish Blizzard would just give us World of Diablo already, a next gen MMO set in the Diablo universe being mature and dark.
I always wanted a Starcraft MMO...

My best buddy is excited for WoW again. Massive win here for blizzard, even if they are fucking retarded. A broken clock is right twice a day though.

I think I'll finish the new starting areas and then stop playing the beta until release. I'd rather not burn myself out on a beta where all the progress is going to be deleted. Since their racial traits aren't good for pvp I'll never see the starting areas on live. I'm probably going to roll a warlock, rogue or hunter. But I might switch it up for something I didn't main on retail. (Never really tanked, only heals was a Shaman alt that was mostly for collection).

I always wanted a Starcraft MMO...

A Starcraft MMO would be great. I'm really not sure how you would design the classes though to factor in rapid firing weapons for the Terrans. I'd rather an MMO not be an FPS since getting latency to be low enough for everyone in the game world to feel good would be next to impossible.

And then there is the issue of 3 factions, unless they found a way to split it into 2 through the story for simplicities sake. All units would have to be a base unit, and then you could take control of larger vehicles for the purpose of missions in the game. Multiple planets like the Star Wars MMO, but you would need to find a way to introduce space battles. Or just keep those to cut scenes and have zones that are space bases.

There's far more chance of a Diablo MMO since the story easily transfers into a WOW styled MMO. The Diablo faction vs the against Diablo faction. Then you just need to redesign all the combat skills to be balanced around the slightly different play style. But there is perhaps a little to much crossover in fantasy style with WoW making SC the better option for differentiation in product lines.

PvP healers never get any credit but I always love being solely responsible for winning a BG.
I'm tempted to go a priest or druid. Still undecided really. Biggest plus of a druid is you can be a tank or heals, and maybe dps depending on if they've balanced it correctly as long as you've got the gear.

I opted in and really don't mind and i hope i get a free invite i have some great stability and performance again. Id like to test on this board same with diablo but idk may still have to purchase the game and or sub. but thats cool idk its just a beta thing to me and my opinion thats alot more overhaul of the game and should do more beta..how is anyone ever suppose to jump back into the game if they don't i know..thats like the whole point they could keep the player base high if they just polished the game up more..id like to test the hunter pally and rogue out agian.

But yeah i doubt ill get the beta invite ill play eso and the mechanics of that game. they will not release a playable standard edition with game time or a better game time system..idk just like many think its worth it and p2w.

Well I finally decided to give it a go and got it yesterday. It actually ran really well, even with hundreds of people running around in the undead starting area. I also already had several new quests and changed ones, and the itemization is vastly better on a lot of the quest rewards and on the items I saw in the AH. The new graphics for tirsfal glades looked creepy as heck, lots of fog and gloom everywhere. So far I am impressed, and I am jaded as hell with wow as I played since vanilla. I am actually looking forward to playing tonight, and I dont think Ive said that in a very long time.

The one thing that bugs me is that leveling is about 800 times faster than vanilla WoW was ... and blue gear drops like candy.

Its still beta right now, so I am sure things will be adjusted later on. I am sure they want people to be able to get out there and do content and test stuff.

They probably figure a large part of the market for it is 30-50 with kids and can’t grind a solid month to hit 60.

I might start doing some theory crafting on builds.

will they send me an email to the beta opt-in and invite? I havent play WoW in like 10 years and they need to beta invite me i'm like lost.

I don't want to sub or buy it but will they beta opt-in me beta was suppose to be free. They don't even know the concept of beta anymore that developers.

I just bought the game and already had a sub, so I just installed it through the launcher. To just get invited to the beta without buying it you need to run the launcher and set that you want to try the beta in the settings for your account. Then hopefuuly you get picked to try it out.

I really hope so. Slow progress and gear is part of the deal of classic
If it's the same as current WoW, that would remove a large part of the experience of vanilla. Instant gratification nonsense that completely and utterly ignores the entire point of this game, which is to experience the world at every level, make friends, and actually freak out when you get a new piece of gear. The current WoW experience is just jaded. I remember playing vanilla WoW back in 2004 with my warrior. My guild had to run me all the way to IronForge to get the flight path, and even though I had high level guildies with me, I died like 100 times on the way there because random mobs would come out of the side of the path and murder me with one shot. There was actually fear going into a zone you weren't ready for yet. I remember helping someone that couldn't do a simple quest because the mobs were too high and she was trying to find someone to help and I went in there with my warrior with my shiny new blue mace and got the job done. It does seem like trying to find people to do things together is a large part of this Forever game, so I remain cautiously optimistic, but what made WoW feel almost magical and very social is completely and utterly nonexistent in its current form.

I think you get it if you purchase the game but i doubt you'll get the invite for free though.....i wish i could..im booting posting all side by side rank on this more import board..idc what the benchmark says if you can stil get in a1 and post xmp..still doing good the board thinks its unsupported and an intel kit..this board will not post a1 bank not matter what i do with my 8gb dims...one of those boards that probaly posted with all slots 4gb probally or a full yeah really matched kit. quad kits are never on sale so its a little inconvient but its still posting capacity right for being that way. it really dont matter i spent with em on drives both my drives were 120 dollar drives a mushkin eco3 and the toshiba cs2030 nvme neither one of them have any problems...if you spend with em and drives you get a lot imo. Or like we in the camp waiting for blizzard to do a better F2P model or classic free. you can wish me luck on the beta.

Ok so I bought the game, to play the beta, but gotta say, I don't know if I like this? I still play retail Midnight casually, I'll do some M0 stuff and the weekly things like the 5 X Timewalking or 3 X Delves, etc...

With Forever, I forgot how tedious and boring the early fetch quests are, ugh. I created 3 different characters, different races and classes and got to level 3 on all of them, but it was just so BORING doing these lame starter quests again. I couldn't go further it was just lame, killing 8/8 of zombies, or kill 6/6 of big cats, etc...

But the new graphics effects look super cool.

I remember how bad one quest was. "Collect 5 wolf pelts" , except you'd have to kill 68 of them to get your 5 pelts lol.

At what level do these fetch quests fade away, and more engaging content starts? I suppose after level 10+ when talents start coming?

Endgame. The quests were always boring, but they weren't boring 20 years ago. They're very boring now. The point wasn't the quests, but the adventure. And I don't think they can recapture that.

Yeah I would have to agree.

it's interesting because all these old school YouTuber's and "influencers" are glazing and jizzing all over Forever as some new holy grail MMO and best WoW has ever been. Ok...I bought it, went in super open minded, and after tying out my fav Night Elf race and rolling a Druid, I was just bored AF by level 3, thinking ugh, I ran this starter zone a million times already, and it's the same old go kill 10 cats and fetch their ball sacks and return them to me, ok now go out and kill 8 bats and return their penises to me. Rinse and repeat times a thousand :(

Then I rolled the new Elf race just to try a fresh starter area and something new, but it was more of the same fetch quests, whack whack whack, kill this, grab that and return, now go out and do some more...ugh.

Maybe I'm missing something, but where's the "adventure" and "exploration" or "journey not the destination" here? All I'm doing is going out and doing some laundry list of quests repeatedly. It just seems like the same old same old, with some prettier graphics added.

I've watched many videos on this already. Blizzard doesn't seem to understand what made their game great. They really don't. One of my fondest memories was ... I don't even remember the zone ... but on one of my lower level toons ... these horde were ganking us. And more and more horde kept showing up and just massacring all the alliance. I'll never forget the horde guild name because it made me laugh ... it was Blood Bath and Beyond. We told our guildies ... and other alliance told their gulidies ... and more and more alliance started showing up to defend us. It was an all out war. Then the alliance outnumbered the horde ... and when they all gathered ... they formed a line in front of us ... shoulder to shoulder. You literally don't get experiences like this anymore in WoW. The magic is gone. Blizzard doesn't seem to understand what the magic even was. The game was just completely different back then. You were "forced" to make friends to complete even basic quests because soloing mobs was intense, especially if you were under-geared. You had to make friends and group up to play together with others to go find a dungeon entrance. If you died, you had to run all the way back to the dungeon. It was so much effort to run a dungeon together that you couldn't just bail when things got tough. You had to learn and grow together as a team. There seems to be like ... 10% of this in the open beta for Forever ... but 90% of it is missing. You had social reputation in vanilla. If you were a dick, nobody would want to play with you. Forever looks just as easy to level through solo as it does now. That wasn't the case in vanilla. A normal mob could kill you. Vanilla WoW was also a place where the internet was still a new frontier and it was often a place where people made their first online friends. The "glazing" as you describe it is real and extremely annoying. Half these streamers aren't even old enough to have played vanilla WoW so I don't know wtf is even going on with some of these reactions. I feel like current Final Fantasy 14 is closer to the social feelings of vanilla WoW than Forever is. FF14 doesn't even allow damage meters or other metrics to compare one another. The toxicity is astronomically less. I don't really play that either anymore, but the social vibe felt like old school MMOs.

Anyway ... vanilla WoW was a product of its time. I don't think it's even possible to recapture that feeling ... but Blizzard is going about it all wrong with Forever.

It is based off of vanilla so thats pretty much what you get, you arent going to get in depth long interesting quests in the starter areas. The big part of the game is meeting new friends and exploring and having fun. I have met several people by grouping with them and had several really good groups. I am about to enter silverpine now and looking foward to what they have done there, as that area was really bad for quest flow. Brill has been a pleasure to quest in with the new quests made it much less annoying.

I'm not dogging Forever, I do think it's super cool Blizzard put this together and made this game.

I was just put back by the early fetch quests again, and the classes being very lame and limited at low levels, as it's been awhile since I did old vanilla stuff, prob a decade a more. But I will continue to play to explore the revised world.

But I will say, I'm far more excited for The Last Titan, going into a revised Norhtrend and redone ICC, etc...as well as Wrath-remix coming. I love the Wrath era stuff.

The limitations at lower levels is more to force new people to learn how to use skills correctly, rather than be overwhelmed by lots of options.

Do hunters need to buy arrows again? Because in vanilla they didn't have infinite arrows they needed a quiver bag. You also had to feed your pet constantly or it would run away.

You still need to carry arrows supposedly. Pets only need to be fed if they die now, otherwise they stay happy.
