Playstation single player games will no longer be ported to PC

Sounds like people don't really care.

Social Media Discourse Might Be Shredding It, But Marvel’s Wolverine Is Outselling Every PS5 Exclusive Since Spider-Man 2

Alinea Analytics has published its first sales estimates for Marvel's Wolverine, and the data tells a rather different story from the one you might have seen narrated on social media.

In its first three days on the market, the game sold through 1.9 million copies and generated $130 million in revenue, according to the firm's data. One million of those were pre-launch digital pre-orders, and 22.9% of the revenue came from physical sales, a notably high share for a 2026 release. As always with Alinea, these are sell-through figures and exclude unsold retail stock, which publishers typically fold into their own sold-in announcements.

For context on what that means in practice: Wolverine has already passed Death Stranding 2's entire PS5 lifetime performance, which Alinea puts at 1.8 million copies and $129 million. It's also the top-performing new PlayStation Studios game on PS5 this year, and sits at number six among all new PS5 releases by revenue in 2026 after only three days on sale.

Really getting tired of the attempts to frame games as "disasters" because of either their in-game ideology or that of the team. There are plenty of good inclusive games; there are plenty of bad games featuring straight white men.

Can we please get back to discussing PlayStation PC ports?
Really getting tired of pretending "this is fine" and the problem is people complaining and not that most big budget western games suck now.

I'm also getting tired of deliberately not understanding the problem. Isn't wolverine a straight white man? Then what are you even talking about?

Wolverine should be called "Participation Trophy: The Game"

Yeah, none of us here are going to ignore the handholding and woke garbage destroying a hobby that for most of us on this forum has spanned decades. We're watching the things we used to love fall apart right in front of us at the Altar of the Woke. I'm 42 now and I've been playing video games since I was about 4-5 years old. I've experienced every single great era of gaming and what's happening now is an absolute travesty.

This games failure is due to bad gameplay, or should I say no gameplay?

We're talking about how Sony isn't porting their games to PC and here we have an example of Sony doing just tha. And we thank Sony for it.

Look at these clips and you tell me if it's a 7/10 game? This is why nobody cares if Sony brings their games to PC because this is the direction of future Sony titles.
An interactive movie where your input means nothing :ROFLMAO:!

Right it's bad. I basically stoped buying AAA games as it's been years since I actually enjoyed one. They all feel way to "safe" and like they are a reskin of all other games as they don't try anything new most times.

Now indie games are where it's at. They still try things that are new or possibly unique and tend not to put in all the woke junk ECT. Idk big games just feel like they lost something that indie games still have.... called a fun experience.

There are still fun AAA games. I thoroughly enjoyed both Horizon games, even with the stupid DLC of the second game. Honestly, the first Horizon game got me into gaming again. And Breath of the Wild. But it's been rough for AAA games lately. The Last of Us was fantastic. I couldn't force myself to finish the sequel for obvious reasons.

Those are all a few + years old and good games. Seems it got bad around late 23-24 as now AAA games are eaither woke, have $500 in dlc or just feel like they aren't fun. Also what happened to faces/character models? Those definitely took a shit in most big games and after watching the Bethesda game dev protest I'm fairly sure it's because the people making games absolutely hate themselves and life and should go into a woodchiper. Compare a dev team pic form now vs and older one. The older ones are a bunch of awkward geeky dudes and women that are they because they love games.

New dev team pics are a bunch of pink haired people that hate themselves

I feel this, once I built my PC last year I got loads of those sony AAA games and yet I just can't bring myself to finish them. TLOU I & II, God of War, they look nice but I can't bring myself to finish them. I spend way more time playing crappy roguelikes or indie games.

God of War 1 and 2 are quite amazing, actually. They can get repetitive, though.

I hate QTE, so seeing them as optional is okay... ofc if the rest of the game/story sucks that's another thing...
Nobody likes QTE and it shouldn't be a thing in modern games. QTE is there because developers want cut scenes but feel that letting the player do nothing isn't interactive. The smart thing to do is not have cut scenes at all. Fucking Half Life 2 doesn't have cut scenes but does have moments when people talk and you can walk around and do what you want while they're doing it. We have devolved from a 2004 game.

Also, it isn't just QTE. There are driving parts where you can ignore the controls and still win. Remember Mixtape is a game where IGN gave it a 10/10 and you can also let go of the controls and still win.

Of course it's going to have strong initial sales because it's Wolverine. The game looks good but there's no gameplay. Remember when Ghost of Yōtei sold more in initial sales than Ghost of Tsushima, but it then turns out Yōtei sold less than Tsushima? Ghost of Yotei sold about 4.8 millions copies while Tsushima sold 6.5 million copies in its first year. While 4.8 million isn't bad, it also isn't 6.5 million.

Takes a while before people realize a good looking game is bad.

Got me wondering: just how big/small is that list of PS5 exclusives?

Got chatpgt to put something together. I removed some square enix titles that shouldn't have been there since they were timed exclusive and cleaned up a couple of the errors it made with duplicates. For some reason it didn't put in Concord or Marathon. Could still have some stuff missing.

And how many of these came out after spider man 2? Since that is supposed to be the big win.

Yeah ai bots definitely have a ways to go before they take over the world.

The only PS5 games that PC doesn't have that is worth a damn is Demon Souls Remastered and Astro Bot. Ghost of Yōtei if you really want to push it. Demon Souls Remastered and Astro Bot are now both semi playable on PC through KytyPS5. Sony dumping PC has quickly pushed a PS5 emulator into existence. The emulator is progressing quickly to the point where it's possible GTA6 might be playable on release.

View: https://youtu.be/bkZXrQXRADw?si=6n1e3XCveLPDer9P

Side note, SUYU has released a final version of their emulator which can translate ARM to native x86. They pulled an UltraHLE and vanished after they released this. The importance of this is that it maybe now possible to decompile Switch games and make native PC ports. Imagine playing Breath of the Wild on PC with proper mouse and keyboard controls? This is due to AI helped people make these emulators, and this could eventually make its way to PS5. Sony is going to lose so much money not releasing their games on PC.

I really wanna play that Astro Bot game. I was thinking I would just grab it at a steep discount in the future, and then borrow a friend's PS5 to play it. But I would rather play it on PC. If not natively then at least by emulation, if the emulation gets to a good enough point.

Not their fault, Nintendo went after them: https://www.destructoid.com/nintendo-400-dmca-takedowns-for-switch-emulators/

Not a problem cuz we still got Citron Neo, Eden (which I've been enjoying using lately), and Ryubing. The first two are based on Yuzu and the last one on Ryujinx. Nintendo keeps trying, but they will NEVER stop the community. Switch emulation lives on!

We haven't seen Bloodborne ported to PC and will likely never. Demon Souls and Astro Bot are also likely to never see the light of day on PC, though Demon Souls on RPCS3 works pretty good. Not everyone likes the Demon Souls Remake.

The hot new Switch emulator is now NxEMU which isn't based on Yuzu and Ryujinx. NxEMU uses only decrypted Switch roms, which makes it get into less legal trouble with Nintendo. A lot of people are saying it's the best Switch emulator right now. The point of Suyu is that they left behind the source code through github that has the ability to start porting Switch games to PC natively. AI is accelerating emulation and decompilation to the point where we could see games released exclusively on consoles be ported to PC by the community.

Thanks for the heads up. I hadn't heard of this one before.

Last I heard Wolverine sold 1.9 million copies but I have a feeling it won't gain much more than that. About 1 million were digital preorders. So that's 130 million made in sales which is still short of the 305 million cost to produce the game. I do wonder how long before Sony ports Wolverine to PC?
xbox pc games demand Wolverine remain exclusive.jpg
The joke with this photo is that someone broke into the car and left Wolverine in it.

Why the hell do people still preorder games: They aren't going to run out of bits people, just wait until shit comes out, look at the review score, maybe watch a Youtube video, then decide if you still want it. For people that DO want a game like this, fair enough, I mean even if I think something looks like shit I don't get to decide what you like. However I get real annoyed with doinks that preorder games then cry if they suck. Why should studios worry about a game being good if you'll order it before you know?

It's not that simple, physical stores and key sellers can still run out of keys allotted to them, and then you'd be forced to buy at inflated prices if you decide to get a game after all.

Obviously I don't preorder games that I think look like shit, only ones that I think will be good, which is getting rare these days.

A beneficial legacy from when Sony sold physical games. Biggest scam in modern gaming. I also thought Wolverine would have been a 7/10 game, until I saw what Insomniac Games has created. Franchise games will continue to be terrible games because the game itself isn't what sells but the IP. Just look at Suicide Squad where it caused a $200 million financial loss to Warner Bros. But this is why I feel Sony might make an exception with Wolverine on PC, due to poor sales. Not that anyone should buy this awful game, even if it were on PC.

Yeah I stopped pre-ordering games back in the 90s or very early 2000s. I have no idea why people still do that today. Even if the game is good, you still need to give the devs time to fix broken shit with patches, not to mention waiting for sale prices. These days I absolutely do NOT buy until I try. I need hands-on before I decide to purchase a game.

Those day 1 patches are more about fixing builds that one shot things in game than actual bugs. Look at Mortal Shell II for example where before the first patch you could one shot bosses in the game with Smert, but after the first patch then he's pretty weak. They did buff him a few patches later but nowhere near the level he was pre-patch. Now ask me if they fixed the games bugs and the answer is no. Mortal Shell II still has bugs where I either lose my weapon or I fall through the world.

Another example is Metal Gear Solid V where you fight Quiet. You can call a supply drop on her, and if done twice then you beat her without killing her. The game has since been patched and this no longer works. She dodges the supply drops easily now. Most games aren't like Cyberpunk2077 where they get patched to the point where it's a new game.

By now, it is safe to assume that you get the better game if you wait at least a couple of months after release. Even for the most lauded of games. Has the added advantage that most of them will be on sale by then.

The superior product at lower price, what's not to like?

I mean I get having something you want to play right away, nothing wrong with paying full price if you want that but no reason not to wait until day 1 to see reviews. Like I get it back in the day, I grew up in the 80s and 90s, I remember when there were limited copies and shit took a long time to get in. I can see why people preordered (never could talk my parents in to doing it). However with digital distribution? They never run out of copies so get it after you check it.

Looks like Bungie is trying to save themselves by giving back the content they stole from customers in Destiny 2. One of the reasons I stopped buying Destiny 2 expansions was because what’s the point if they’re going to take it off you whenever they feel like it. Even when it was dirt cheap a few months ago I ignored it.

Bungie unvaulting Destiny 2 content was a studio-saving emergency decision, because Marathon updates were never going to be enough

Still, none of those issues compared to the content vault, first introduced in 2020. In removing entire campaigns from the game, not only did Bungie break players' ability to understand the complete story of Destiny 2, it also raised questions about the ethics of deleting content that you thought you'd paid for. It cast a shadow over the game for the rest of its lifespan.
Now, three months after its supposedly final update, Bungie's decision to unvault Destiny 2's oldest content may have been the only move left on the board to keep the studio going. While this is only really a first step to winning players back, it's a savvy decision that has reignited a sensible amount of hope in the game's community. It also means the developer isn't solely dependent on the dicey fortunes of Marathon to keep going.
