Fixed my old WD White 8TB HDD's that I shucked a long time ago...

It must have been maybe 5-6 years since I've last used them. The power supply for my server crapped out and blew the fuses on all of them. There's at least 8 of them, but got one fixed (was a short term fix, I just put solder between where the fuse used to be). The fuses are so small, I need to figure out where to get them. The one I fixed was a 5V 2A fuse, so it's likely the rest are going to be the same. Looks like I'm getting back into electronics repair...

Here's how small the parts are, and how even my best work looks sloppy, lol. Ok, the fuse is less than 2 Millimeters Centimeters long...

Updates:
HDD #1 - Shorted 5V fuse, repaired and fully functional.
HDD #2 - Shorted 5V fuse, repaired, but still not functional. Noticed a semi-dislodged PCIe pin. Swapped with PCB with HDD #6, and now it's working.
HDD #3 - Shorted 12V and 5V fuse, repaired and fully functional.
HDD #4 - Shorted 12V and 5V fuse, repaired and fully functional.
HDD #5 - This was a weird one. 12V fuse was still kind of good, connectivity between the ends of the fuse, but not from the PCIe pins to the end of the fuse. Shorted 12V and 5V fuses, repaired and fully functional. Going to look at HDD #2, it's probably the same thing.

HDD #6 - Shorted 12V and 5V fuse, but still not functional. Swapped the PCB with HDD #2 so that at least one might work. This could just have bad platters?
HDD #7 - Shorted 5V fuse, repaired and fully functional.
HDD #8 - Shorted 5V fuse, repaired and fully functional.

Updates 10/17/2026:
I figured I'd give a 1-month update. I have a 4-disk parity in Windows Storage Spaces, and a 3-disk parity in Windows Storage Spaces. Both working great so far.

All done! 7 out of 8 ain't bad. The one that I couldn't fix is a platter issue. These fuses are seriously small, barely 2 Millimeters Centimeters. I might even try fixing some of my older 1TB and 2TB HDD's at this rate.

Noice! My soldering skills are so out of practice, and the only soldering iron I have left is a giant gun, I doubt I could pull off anything that tiny any more

Ditto, its been a while and my hands aren't as steady as they used to be and my eyes aren't as good as they used to be....

Did you check the TVS diode? It's usually near that fuse and also likes to die during power events. Much larger.
SIJA GP716 in your first pic.

Where did you buy the replacement capacitor or fuse? Did you search for a schematic to find the correct value?
I have a couple of dead SSD's, and with prices the way the are, I'd like to try to save them if possible if it requires replacing a cap or a fuse.
