Still have my HL t-shirt that came with the orange box. Doesn't fit though. Shrunk in the wash.

Glad to see they have done great work on the Linux gaming front.
 
For the most part, Steam digital distribution fixed the prevalent piracy problem that PC gaming had, especially in certain regions.
 
That explains my back catalog pretty well..."30 Years........yep..". Now I need to look ahead and go "So long long do I think I'll have full use of my fine muscle coordination.......shit...better get started..."

Remember when Gabe was just that guy who kept playing coy about Half Life 3.....and we were all pissed that all he cared about was this digital distribution platform? :D

I mean I'l still pissed about HL3 but honestly the guy's got a Naval Fleet now......so......I mean....well....

It's "only" been 21 years since third-party games started being sold on Steam.

In three months my Steam account will be 22 years old.

I avoided steam as long as I could, but I was forced to use it when I got fallout new vegas. Just checked Ive had mine since 10/24/2010, so just shy of 16 years now. I remember raging when I tried to install the game and I had to use this stupid steam thing. I threw my collectors edition in the corner, mad I wasted money getting it and couldnt play it like all my other games. After waiting 5 days I finally gave in and installed steam, and finally played the game. Then after that I really didnt even use my steam account for almost 5 years, mostly playing wow. Then dying light was close to coming out and I really wanted to play that, so dusted off my old steam account and finally used it again. Mostly been using it on and off since then.

I only decided to make and keep an account in the last year or two. Have yet to give Valve any money and barely use it, but it has had a benefit. Instead of telling people I don't have a Steam account, and the shocked disbelief that came after, I get to tell them to gift a game or stop pestering me to play it :ROFLMAO:.

Duke Nukem Takes Forever is why I ended up getting a Steam account. However, I despise the fact that Steam removed the right of resale from gamers, and I don’t like their interface. When I buy a game, I expect to be able to play it when and where I want to. I don’t like having to sign into some idiotic third-party service to play a game I bought.

My opinion of Steam would be much better if they’d implement some kind of trade-in system. I don’t want to be stuck with games I no longer want. I know I can just hide those games in the list, but I’d rather get rid of them entirely in exchange for credit towards the purchase of new games.

That would be amazing for gamers. No publisher is ever going to sign up for that.
 
Without steam, wonder if PC gaming will be behind consoles in % digital sales vs physical. Gamers, in majority numbers, might not accept another service like EA Origin.

I think I have you beat. My first Steam purchase wasnt until 2017.

I think maybe the records arent correct, because there is a lot of stuff before 2017 that just says "Retail".

Retail means a cd key activation that was not purchased on steam. Actual purchases are under "Purchase history"
 
1,000+ hours on CS! :eek: My 9 y/o nephew took over my accont and got hello neighbor in 2017. :)
