Probably because its cheaper to pre-order than after its immediate release? Don't know if that applies to GTA6 tho.

Reason why I am doing it for Ace Combat 8. I know price will come down further after release but I plan on playing it as soon as possible. Only got an $11 or so discount for that though. Some games like STALKER 2 were $38 or so for pre-order, which was vastly cheaper to pre-order compared to launch day. Hasn't really dropped much lower than that since post release.

It is very true. You get the ultimate version on a discount with less bugs on the cheap. All you have to do is be patient

I still want to know what kind of performance to expect. Hence I want to see the game actually running. If it's 60fps, I'm there on day 1. Even if it's 45'ish with VRR, that's probably okay. God of War looked decent enough like that. If it's 30? I'm not touching it.

My guess is 30. The trailers were 30 and upscaled 1440p to 4k.

Who does the leaks benefit or hurt? I seriously doubt it'll hurt sales but I'm confident the hackers will get caught and receive minimal punishment for it.

The interesting thing about these leaks is that they're apparently from an unfinished PC build of the game and it's playable. The latest videos show them actually spelling out the word "LEEK" on a wall with bullets. Not that we didn't see a PC version coming, but it's a semi-confirmation. Hopefully Rockstar doesn't try to get revenge at the expense of the PC port.

Someone said Rockstar used Ai to make the game so it looks like Ai.

That video is nothing but GTA5 graphics mod an AI slop as well. Also someone is wrong stop spreading bullshit and posting clickbait fake videos.

The games are developed on PC. Consoles pay for exclusivity agreements. The game is ported from PC to console and then further refined and patched using devkit consoles. Once the exclusivity deals run out, then PC will be released like always.

Red Dead Redemption took like 15 years, though, so maybe not always.

AI generated. In the second video, watch the construction worker and truck disappear around 17s. There are other tells, but that one's a dead giveaway.

Rule of thumb on GTA6 leaks, if a clip is short or heavily edited, assume it's AI generated.

Things claimed from the "Leek" guy while promoting their crypto. Things may or may not have changed from what looked like an older build of the PC running around beating up homeless people under a highway. Biggest change might be the fuel requirements and car health meter.

- ‘Karma’/‘Honour’ system unconfirmed, as while some clips show it, one clip that can be proven to be from last year does not show it, it may have been scrapped
- Cars have fuel and damage gauges, similar to the stamina and health gauges of your horse from RDR2
- Two funds balances, likely what the player character has on them physically and what is being stashed at the safe house/fence etc.
- Pills and vials can be taken as ‘health’/‘stamina’ supplements, one of which is - or was at one point during development - called ‘Zombix’
- Stamina gauge seems to heavily deplete during combat, seemingly limiting the scope for rampages
- When wanted, cops can take note of your clothes/face/vehicle/weapon depending on the strength of the report made (“Call the cops!” Heard from NPCs)
- Six stars on the wanted level
- Cinematic takedown, similar to RDR2
- A wrench as a weapon, possibly hinting at a wider variety of usable weapon options
- Helicopters, planes, cruise ships, boats, construction sites
- Flying kick melee combat option
- ‘Greet’ and ‘taunt’ interaction options with NPCs

Page 718 on the
Kiwifarms
thread for gta should have the archived video.

RDR took 5 years. Rockstar didn't even get the idea for making it until after acquiring Red Dead Revolver in 2002. RDR came out in 2010, development began in earnest in 2006.

You mean the PC release, which came out in 2024... GTA5 only took 1.5 years, RDR2 took 1 year.

Rockstar bought cfx.re in 2023, thats the people who made FiveM. You will see alot of the feature set from that in the core game and the full feature set in MP.

Just ask Ace Goober about that one. Defend the country at a high risk. Just to play Rockstar games for a few days. You're probably are going to play the game in Basic Training with a Drill Sergeant yelling at you in tear gas chamber.

play GTA6 for 4 days and then get sent to Iran for 2 years...not sure it's worth the tradeoff :geek:

I think it's all BS, sure they might have some data, but a working game? Where did they get a devkit too to get it working? Or are they claiming to have the PC version? Even if they do, it wouldn't destroy GTA6. HL2 wasn't destroyed by a working build getting leaked.
ive seen talk of the indian devs that were working on it yoinking it...

lol this is the most click bait retarded shit

They are going to lose exactly zero dollars over this and at some point some autistic kid is going to wake up to his fucking door getting splintered

Do you really think someone saw a clip of Jason hitting an NPC in the ass with a pipe wrench and immediately refunded their order after yelling THIS ISN'T WHAT I EXPECTED - it's a nothingburger in the grand scheme of things.

It's apparently an incomplete/old PC build

The dude writing his name on a wall with bullet holes is pretty hard to refute

The last leak clip i saw contained music that was released in 2025 so "old" is relative here.
(A radio in gameplay plays Tate McRae - "Sports Car" which was released in January 2025)

Even if the game ends up being shitty (relatively), it will sell extremely well. 98% of gamers aren't constantly online anyway and if they hear of a leak won't be bothered with it. Why would I spend my time playing a buggy pre-release build? I'd only do that for a game I really like and already finished to see how it compared.

Completely off topic, but my previous boss, who administered over 400 employees, never got stressed about anything, even though he was constantly under pressure.

I asked him one time what his secret was, and he said that in Iran he was obligated to join the army, and that his first assignment was to test the reliability of newly developed gas masks. Every day for three months straight he would sit in a room, don a gas mask, then wait it out while the room filled with gas - the mask either worked or it didn’t, and if it didn’t your lungs would be destroyed and you’d die an excruciating death.

He said that after this episode in his life everything else just seemed easy.

The leak I saw looked almost exactly like GTAV but with better graphics.

That's what all the fans want. It'll sell like crazy.

I think at this point it will be like a lot of entertainment products these days. It will likely sell very well based on hype but it may crash and burn on story, fun and cultural impact. Thus longevity as an income stream will collapse. See RedDead2 Online for that scenario.

The base resolution it looks to be upscaling from in this netflix promo looks pretty low. I'm wondering if it's the PS5 version or PS5 pro version. All the more reason to wait for a PC version by how much it looks like they've had to trim effects wise to keep the fps acceptable. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that the PS6 version won't have an upgrade available and you'll have to shell out the full price again knowing Rockstar.

edit* PS5 footage, so the Pro would probably look more acceptable with PSSR 2 upscaling and less settings turned off. The game would have looked better with some of the ray tracing turned off because of how low res the rays were.

There's been a good game drought for the last 4+ years. I don't see your average gamers not buying this because it lacks a disc version. Based on that footage it looks like it's 30fps and goes between 720p/1080p upscaled on the base PS5, and the idiots that burn money on shark cards are going to lap it up because the game looks like it'll probably be good. I don't think they would run a Sony style move of pissing off all of their customers by releasing bad game after bad game with how much money this game cost to make. Of course it could end up bad, but I'm starting to think it'll be a good game that Rockstar will take full advantage of with over the top monetization.

I'll probably play it at some point, sooner rather than later if the PS5 pro version has acceptable image quality. But I really don't understand why it's so popular online, I could never get into the online part of GTA5.

The normies will buy it to success, absolutely

I'll still buy it.... when it's $10 in a Steam sale years later all patched up with GOTY content🤫
