Usually in this situation I'd rattle something off about modding bridges, etc. to get what you want working. As a general rule Athlon XPs could be converted to MPs by modding bridges. I had a couple "Barton" MPs for a while. AMD never released an MP version of the Barton chips, but you could hack the bridges on the PCB and turn a Barton with the 512K cache into an MP.

That said, you're trying to collect a specific set of chips. So me babbling about hack upgrades probably doesn't help.
 
I built a p3750 with a slocket for my inlaws way back in the day. next time I'm over there I'll see if they still have it in a closet or something. Probably not but they might.

Don't mind the dust. This is a little bit of art I put on the wall years back; the series of CPUs I first used in my builds. From the top, left to right, 286, 486, Cyrix 6x86 (the first one *I* bought and built- my dad bought the first two), AMD K6-2, Intel Celeron 300A (OC'd to 450 of course), Intel P3-800, AMD Athlon, Barton 2500XP, A64 3200+, A64 X2 5600+. Oh and I color coded the paint to the primary color for the manufacturer. AMD changed from green to red at some point.

Obviously they're not *the* CPUs I had, but they're the same models.

sinisterDei Cool stuff. I'm a bit of a hoarder, but mostly DDR. I see the creative stuff people do with their older components and sometimes ponder if I should try to do something similar. I'm pretty sure I could at least create an "accent wall" in a room using RAM modules instead of paint and if I'm being honest, probably cover multiple walls with it. It's an incurable Madness. :)

I don't think I have any slocket Intel stuff. I may still have a socket 2 Xeon still in it's box hiding somewhere.
 
Re: Abit. To be clear, their "shitting the bed" was the Capacitor Apocalypse. It put a LOT of the more boutique board manufacturers under. Also RIP Soyo.

I have a lot of old CPU's. I'd have to go through them, but I have an example from just about every Intel generation up to about two generations ago. I have a 6x86 PR166 I think.

It wasn't just the Capocalypse! They farmed out their later motherboards to some shit OEM/ODM entities, and RMA's and shipping bled them dry!

Quality definitely dropped on the abit stuff once it became "abit" instead of "ABIT".

Yeah that was when they couldnt manufacure anything anymore and had ECS do it for them. They had also lost all their bios engineers and tech wizards by that point too.
 
I found a slocket to 370..... Still rummaging.

Found a P2 slot something.
Still looking and found a slot P3

And, I found a slot A with gold fingers
