You mean take it apart and scrape the coating off? Too risky to crack or delaminate the lcd IMO.
It is so sad most of the manufacturers still do Matte only. Why purposely degrade the picture??? Wish some who knew how to & do a good job did this.
 
This can actually be achieved in a few simple steps.

1. Carefully remove the outer casing of the monitor
2. Very carefully separate the lcd screen from the frame, power board, control board etc
3. Get a thin metal scrapper and 90+ % isopropyl alcohol
4. Order a glossy monitor
 
This is going to sound like crazy talk, but there are choices you can make to purchase what you want.

I know, I just wish it was easier to tell the real glossies from the mattes on amazon. They might have glossy in info, but it's not glossy all the time...

Reflections degrade the picture too. So they don't sell as many. So they tend to just move away from glossy

1. You can reach out to the manufacturer and ask if it is glossy or matte, buying without knowing seems insane to me if it is something important to you.
2. offices don't buy glossy monitors, which was my point. glossy is not desirable for majority of monitor purchasers, this is why you don't see as many.

I don't know about modern monitors but you use to be able to lay wet paper towels on the screen stripped down for hours to get the glue soft. It was very risky though.

Some people still did that with samsung QD-OLEDs in the last few years. The modern LG's can not do it though.

You would use distilled water + a small % of rubbing alcohol, and a lot of soaked paper towels or soft rags/towels soaked over and over, then plastic pry tools and peeling. The user on the forum "Vega" did a nice photo gallery and write-up documenting the removal on one of his screens a long time ago, and there were users in other forums posting similar.

It's always a risk. I doubt I'd ever chance it unless I was way out of warranty and willing to get a new screen if I ruined it, or maybe if I got a refurb where the cost wasn't as painful if I ended up trashing it.

Why It Fails Completely on LG OLED and Tandem OLED TVs
Attempting this same method on a modern LG OLED or high-brightness tandem OLED TV will not yield a clean, glossy screen. Instead, it will permanently ruin the display because of how LG structures its panels:
  • Fused Multi-Layer Polarizers: LG's anti-reflective technology is an inherent component of the structural polarizing film. It is not a separate top-coat that can be dissolved away independently. The anti-glare elements are baked directly into the material properties of the outer layer.

Forcing a solvent like alcohol onto these screens can cause the liquid to seep past outer bezels, leading to delamination (the layers physically separating) and catastrophic panel failure.

Also people at home may not want them as their lights around, or a window...
 
Info I recently found from a google results regarding de-matting a S95H.

TLDR:

- They changed how they apply the matte treatment and it sounds like an incredibly high risk thing to do. It would likely fail.
- Even if you somehow managed it, according to this, it would still lift the blacks in ambient light because the quantum dots still reflect the light and give it the purple hue.
