Look how ridiculous the naming convection has been sine the 2010s.
Radeon R5, R7, and R9 200 300 400 Series
Radeon R9 Fury, R9 Fury X, and R9 Nano
Radeon VII...what?
And see the RX 5000 series would have made a little sense after the R9 400 except we got Fury and Roman numerals quick in the middle.
But they couldn't stop them selves. Again last year and just when thing were feeling good, after the RX 7900, they skip the 8000 series for some reason and change the naming convention to look more like Nvidia? not 9700, but 9070...
It shouldn't bother as much as it does, but maybes its because I just hate marketing departments in the tech industry in general.
EDIT Hate is a strong word. especially for someone who doesn't know shit about who is involved in the naming convention.
