Went from | ASUS ROG Strix X570-I + 5950x(@5.1ghz) + 32gb DDR4 3600mhz CL14 + Crucial P5 Plus M.2 2280 2TB | -----> TO ----- > | GIGABYTE X870E AORUS PRO ICE AM5(I got the 1.0 version which makes it a VERY old board but the huge discount was worth it) + 9850x3d(@5.785ghz) + Patriot 32gb DDR5 6000mhz CL30-40-40-76 + Patriot Viper VP4300 Lite 2TB

Don't know if I got a good 9850x3d or a bad one but mine regularly clocks up to 5.785ghz with a +200mhz skew in the bios and -30 on the curve shaper for max and high clocks at all temps. As far as I can tell the internet seems to think there is no benefit to using an x3d chip at 4k besides higher 1% and .1% lows but that is exactly what I was trying to raise since at times things didn't quite feel smooth. Happily it did help with the lows and cyberpunk 2077 and Helldivers 2 feel much smoother. I don't feel the loss of 8 cores since I never really did enough productivity to warrant the 5950x but at the time I built it I thought I might, now I know different and a 9950x3d would have been a waste of money.

Yes I know MOST people want to go with a more "mellow rgb" style but I am of the thinking that RGB is already COMPLETELY unnecessary so if I am going to do it at all I am going to be loud about it. The case is laying flat on a stand just for it so the radiator on the left side is NOT the bottom of the case, the fans towards the front of the case in front of the motherboard are the bottom of the case and ALL fans except the rear fan are intakes.

Looks nice. I don't mind all the ARGB, especially being able to control them with SignalRGB. I decided to upgrade my daughter's gaming PC with a 9850X3D paired with a RX 9070 XT, she should be good for years. I haven't played with it to compare it to my 14900K and 270K Plus at 2K, which I'm sure is still better at gaming.

I went from a 5950X to a 9950X3D and absolutely noticed the difference even at 4K with 1% lows and overall smoothness of games, which in turn boosted my averages as well (and my old 5950X was heavily manually OC'ed solid). Have not looked back and the 9950X3D still gave me what I needed for productivity. Plus, the extra cores still help with shader compile too.
