At SID Display Week 2026, TCL CSOT unveiled a next-generation display capable of achieving up to 131% BT.2020 colour gamut using a novel RGBC (cyan-augmented) subpixel structure. In this video, we take a closer look at how this expanded colour volume is achieved, what it means for real-world image reproduction, and whether pushing beyond BT.2020 actually delivers visible benefits.Beyond this headline technology, TCL CSOT also showcased its broader APEX display strategy, spanning:
  • Advanced LCD innovations, including RGBC and high-efficiency backlight systems
  • IJP OLED (inkjet-printed OLED) developments and their potential manufacturing advantages
  • XR-focused displays, targeting higher pixel density and improved visual immersion

Lots of interesting stuff there.

I'm very interested in IJP OLED , hopefully for large curved gaming screens in the future since they bend so easily.

I'm especially looking forward to when XR glasses hit 4k, and 4k+, which they seem to be showing some examples of there that they are working on - and overall when they can display a virtual 4k screen (hopefully HDR screen) in real space with full detail.

They are at 120Hz now, and they are just examples of what they are working on in that video - but they should be able to go higher in the years ahead and have HDR (which would likely have the benefit of appearing brighter so near to your eyes), etc.

Note that these are prototypes and that their consumer lines of XR glasses will likely remain 1080p for some time yet.

TCL also had a QDEL display prototype there:

Really interested in this one since it's supposed to basically be QD OLED without the burn in. We'll see if that actually happens though and if the brightness doesn't have to be as pathetic as QD OLED monitors for it to be burn in free.
