No way to disable SATA port in BIOS

I have an Asus B550-Plus AC-HES.

In the BIOS under Advanced/SATA, I see switches to disable hot plug but none to disable the port.

Every motherboard I have had in the past has had this capability. This is the first time I see a BIOS that does not have it.

Is this possible and am I looking for it in a wrong menu?

Should be in common options or w/e it's called, if it's not in the pcie or chipset settings.

Check your manual. I have seen boards that do not support this function. Sometimes they support it because of possible port limitations regarding pci-e lanes and installed hardware.

This is under Advanced/SATA. With all the settings in the BIOS, it makes no sense not to have this.
I have seen OEM PCs that have a very basic BIOS. But, this BIOS has so many different settings in different pages. Why did ASUS choose not to have this option?

When I install Windows, I like to disable all the other physical drives to avoid Windows creating a dual-boot menu.
I had always done this using the BIOS and disabling the other drives. Now, I have to open the box and disconnect the other drives. I have never had to do it this way before. It feels so primitive.

How would you make a record of this so that no one else finds out after the fact like I did?
I mean could I have found out about this before buying it? I would have looked for something else if I had known.

It takes two seconds. In fact it takes less time than it would for the engineer to code that option into bios. Arguably it’s not very useful for most situations and since you can usually just disconnect the drive, why go out of the way to do this especially on a lower end board. I get it on enterprise boards in data centers, but it’s not an important missing feature in a board such as this.

Also it’s a windows issue more so than anything. I have serial numbers written down for identical model drives and under any other os I can see the serial when choosing which drive to install the os to.

The windows installer has sucked at this since the windows 95 days.

Takes less time to simply disconnect the power to the drives than it did to write the posts in this thread.

It isn't an issue for 99.999% of the people that are buying that 6 year old motherboard.

neither my b450 or b550 had that option, havent seen it in a while...

I'm not sure I've ever seen it outside of OEM BIOS, particularly business models. Granted, I don't typically search for this option.
