I've become the family's data center and I'm looking to expand/upgrade the spinning rust. I've been hunting around for SATA NAS/Enterprise storage and most places are only allowing you to buy 1 drive at a time for new drives. Does anyone know a site that is selling lots of 8 or more 20TB+ drives? I bought some "factory refurbished" drives which failed after a year, so I'd rather get that 5 year warranty.

Who did you buy the recert drives from?

Are you in the U.S, there are a couple ebay sellers who offer longer warranties on used drives..

It was one of those server refurb sites that Level1Techs shilled. It was decent deal and one drive failure out of 20 isn't bad. I just wanted to buy new drives to expand my array and am amazed that no one seems to have new drives in stock.

I'll give the GoHardDrive a shot, I'd prefer manufacture warranty but it doesn't look like I can get that, so I'll take a 5 year dealer warranty.

There's also ServerPartDeals. I've no first-hand experience with either outfit, but both seem to be reputable from what I've gathered.

And don't feel too bad about losing one drive out of twenty. Of the seven new HDDs I've bought since black Friday one has already died.
