I currently have (2) Dell 2209WA IPS monitors. Considering a new Dell U3818DW to replace these two.
My system is almost zero gaming and totally productivity, programming, youtube, webdesign, etc

Any other monitors I should consider. The only thing I can think of that would hold me back is the 60hz max on the dell.

There are plenty in the 34" size with great refresh rates but I'm thinking that's not going to be the same realestate as my (2) 22" monitors that I have now.

Thanks for any advice.

I have two of those Dell 2209wa monitors still for my test bench and previously had 3 of them in eyefinity for years. I moved to a 35" 100hz 3440x1440 screen and it is slightly more pixels and similar in physical size although a few inches smaller. I have noticed that for my work flow as a developer the 38" would have been the sweet spot for me real estate wise. Since you are use to lower res screens that 34-35" 3440x1440 screens would be quite similar just physically smaller. I would say if high refresh isn't necessary to go with the 38".

I have a U3415w at home and a pair of 24" at work.
From a productivity standpoint, the multiple monitors are substantially more useful to me vs the single even if it has multi input/splitting capability especially when it comes to programming and productivity tasks (I'm an IT Engineer).
About the only thing I would personally change for me would be to upgrade the 24's to 27s with 1440p, even so the 24 are plenty reasonable as is, even at 1080p.

If you still insist on going with the larger monitor see if you can try one out before hand or look at one in person.
I'm not a huge fan of the 21:9 ratio, while its immersive overall and the curve is nice, the screen is awkward for varying tasks and watching movies on.
That being said there are alot of folks who love it and/or don't mind the ratio hence the see for yourself recommendation.

I'm about ready to drop the hammer on this one but I know as soon as I do someone is going to release one like it with a much higher refresh rating.
