In response to player requests for "greater challenge, fewer restrictions, and more incentives when it comes to PVP combat," Bethesda announced that they're developing a "Survival" mode for Fallout 76. In the main menu, players soon be given a choice between "Adventure" mode, which is Fallout 76 as it exists now, or the new PvP mode. Existing characters from Adventure mode will carry over, but unlike Adventure mode, all players outside your team will automatically be flagged as hostile. Bethesda notes that Survival mode will be in beta when it launches, and that they'll tweak the death mechanics and make other balance changes if necessary.

There are no "invitations" to PVP combat in Survival mode. You can attack other players without restriction from the first shot you line up, meaning every encounter you have with a stranger could turn deadly in the blink of an eye. Further, level scaling in Survival mode will work the same way it does in Adventure mode today. This will help to level the playing field a bit and give newer characters a fighting chance against high-level players they might encounter during their adventures in the Wasteland. As a result, you'll need to keep your wits about you during every hostile encounter, because even low-level characters can pose a real threat... Currently, players who die in Survival mode will be unable to use the seek revenge respawn option against their aggressors and can only choose to respawn at their C.A.M.P. or Vault 76. We're also planning to award you double the Caps when you kill another player, and they may drop their Aid or other items in addition to their Junk.

Will it crash as often as survival mode in fallout 4? I think it will, same engine and all.

That got fixed for me with an update. Are you on PC or console? The version I'm on is by far the most stable Bethesda game I have ever played; which sounds like an oxymoron.

Lot of threads on this game from a forum that despises it. lol
Diablo 3 and other sequels generated a lot of threads, but that was because they had a large, previous player base that was expecting one thing and (mostly) disappointed by the sequel. People want to vent, too.

Ah I don't know. Some people have no problems and others do. I fall into the I have problems group.

i dont hate it
nor do i like it
....i nothing it.....

bethesda themselves however have been providing me with just massive amounts of entertainment over the last few months and most of it happens to revolve around this game lol.

/edit- fixed the quote

At this point it's like watching NASCAR for the wrecks.

NASCAR wrecks are exciting.

Exactly. I have been a Bethesda fan since Morrowind and an even bigger fan of the Fallout series (and Fallout 4 is my favorite, I love making settlements). But I am hollow about Fallout 76. It feels like a Fallout game, but it leaves me dead.

This setback will give them wisdom, it will help them to understand their market and their unique place in the video gaming industry. And if I'm wrong, I believe I am still young enough to find and falcon-punch all of them." - Anon

So many new games seem to be this formula:

1. The $2win mechanics of free mobile games.

2. 60$+30$DLC of a full priced AAA game.

3. Rehashed old engine, art, and model assets imagined and built from a more creative time.

4. Political alienation marketing and or story.

5. Unsatisfying pvp.

6. Vacuous open world.

5. Tone deaf hype.

Even cyberpunk2077 gameplay demo is loaded with red flags of steps backward from witcher3.

If it wasn't for education system churning out herds of zombie media consumers desperate time consumption skinner boxes with even a single drop of happiness, fun, and imagination, I'd be certain games industry is headed for a major collapse.

Amazing assholes. ;) Having so much fun with 76. there are so many ways to approach such a huge number of different scenarios and I won't say its endless but it sure is big.

I have 2 serious chars in the game and my lower level may become my main guy. I have my lead as straight up Enclave and my new guy as BOS, although you need to be an Enclave General to launch Nukes it does not get in the BOS factions way at all. Experimenting with Explosive Resistance and my BOS guy has a ton. Weee ... we'll just toss nades all over the place. ;) I did this so he could withstand his exploder Shotgun. Its very beastly indeed.

I really wanted to like this game... But, I spend all of my time doing mundane tasks. If I want food, I'll get up from the game and get something to eat. What idiot thought it would be fun to make people kill and cook food and scrounge for water. I want to explore... find good weapons and armor and kill things. Instead, I am always hungry and thirsty and need to get more food and water... Which the results in radiation sickness.. This is just F**ked up!

So you have not noticed that to go anywhere, you will need to kill the beasts that attack you. Cook em' up and eat em'. Any dirty water source can be purified by cooking it on a fire. You get 1 boiled water for 2 dirty water.

This is basic stuff. Have you even got to level 5?

EDIT: I think Doom might be your game. Its really good and you just run over your supplies. ;)

Can they just can this and put more developer effort into games we want from them?
This is most definitely the game I wanted from them. They showed great courage to bring me my game and I'm very grateful.

The internet is a fucking cesspool now. It was not always like this, just Facesbook etc was where real toxic crap abounded. One of the reasons I never considered joining any of them was just this. Now its come out into my internet and not I'm pleased. I may have to do something about this. You can stay on the lawn. Nukes incoming! ;)

Lol did you see the review for that shit? Some plastic bottle casing with average rum for ~100 USD and it looked nothing like the advertisement...

My assumption was everyone knew that. just another mess in the fallout world

I am sensing desperation
I'm not, actually. I'm sensing them proceeding as planned with DLC as though there was no negative press or fundamental problems with the game at all, no need to change course or anything. It's surreal.

Just stop playing it then? I don't understand how people keep pushing through games they don't like. It is a trash game to begin with. Yeah sucks if you paid $60 for it on release but move on if you don't like it.

I saw two guys on YouTube trying to spin this up into outrage, all I saw was two under-educated rednecks who couldn't read "750ml" on the advertisement.....was waiting for them start telling me how flat the Earth was next......
