Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but Im trying to find recommendations for an outdoor security camera. Looking for a camera that can save footage to a computer. I've been looking at some on amazon, but the reviews seems mixed. Any help would be appreciated!

I have a couple of these and they work well. I've got them plugged into a motioneye server to manage the footage.

I bought a Dahua 6Mpixel IP camera with a decent sensor from Ebay for only £50, shipped from China, simply to see when my cat wants to come in lol.
It has very good low light ability (without the IR LEDs on), the IR LEDs are powerful too.
Image quality is superb regardless of light level.
With the browser plugin it can record direct to hard drive but it uses a little more CPU and needs the plugin to be running on an open browser page.

It also comes with standalone software called SmartPSS which can handle multiple cameras, this is very good. (be sure to download the latest version). It uses around 4% CPU of my 6700K when active with one camera.
It needs an FTP for local recording. If you set one up on your PC or from a NAS you are golden.

Have 2 Dahua IPC-HFW1831E running with Blue Iris.
Like the optiono blue iris gives over the camera software

Looks like Hikvision is compromised as well. I was planing on getting their DVR and IP cams. I guess not anymore.
