That's a killer deal. Beyond speed advantages, M.2 drives are nice for keeping things neat in your case, too.

Thinking if the HP EX920 works with your mainboard, that it's 3500/1800 speeds > than Crucial's 2000/1750. That said, the Crucial probably is less capricious.

Yep, wanted to keep things tidy.

Did you buy for value? I'd have thought you'd go the 970 pro for nvme. Or at minimum 960 Evo nvme.
I did that too. All NVME besides to two 4TB spinners.

I impulse-bought with the ebay 15% off last week (how bad could it be, its NVMe) and then immediately regretted. QLC seems great for write-infrequently, read-often - like Steam games or movies, but awful for sustained writes ...

The 1TB Crucial P1 manages about 155 GB of sequential writes before the SLC cache overflows and performance tanks.
Do you move around a lot of 156 gb files.:D

For the $170 pricepoint I'll wait for a deal on at least TLC. Even a HP EX920 is going to be far more consistent on sustained writes as it fills.

I ended up getting the HP off Newegg's Ebay page for $130. Normally it's $151, then they had a 15% off code last week.

If you mean an 8TB usb disk kyle needs a nas and a couple of 10gbps cards, move the hdd noises to somewhere else.

You missed the obvious humor, aka where does he keep the "good stuff". You would never want the good stuff on the network because everyone would be using it, so the good stuff is kept on an offline portable external hdd. And since kyle is a demi-god he obviously has a shit ton of good stuff, hence the 8 tb size hdd.
One big o hunk of good stuff is more than enough for your average company xmas party, dallas cowboy tailgate with the bowling team, or trip to cancun with you high school buds. With 8tb your are guaranteed never to run out of the good stuff.

tldr
One can never have too much good stuff, that's why they call it "good stuff".

Hello, user accounts and permissions management. It's not hard.

$158 from Newegg next three days. However, I guess the end result here is that there don't have consistent write speeds?
